Don't miss this gala Lia Auction is this weekend! Town Hall 1873 in Port Perry will come alive this Friday and Saturday evening with the "Jazzmerize and Friends" concert and auction. This fund raising event has been organized to help Jazzmerize represent Port Perry at Musicfest Canada this May in Calgary. Jazzmerize, the vocal group from Port Perry High School, eamned an invitation to the Nation- als 'be virtue of two gold level performances at the Ontario Vocal Festival, _ The auction will be held both nights (April 8 and 9) and many local artists and artisans are partic- 1pating. Excellent quality crafts and one of a kind works of art have been donated for the auction by the following: Les Parkes, Paula Lishman, Wendy Bateman, Fran Solar, Dini Page, Barry Page, Marilyn Baker, Anne Emer- son, Mike Tobin, Bill Fitches, Norene Crosier, Bonnie Solomon, Sue Haslett-Scholfield, Marilyn Wallace, Kim Price and Liz Wok- ral. Anyone wishing to learn more about the fine works that will be up for auction can view them at the Scugog Library until Thursday of this week. Sealed ab- sentee bids will be accepted from persons unable to attend either of the performances this weekend. Members of Scugog council felt that forcing Metro to find a new or temporary dump under the - EAA would rule out any solution to the garbage problem. Though he did not vote on the resolution, Scugog Mayor Jerry Taylor took a different stance on this issue and stated that Metro should be forced to go through the EAA hearings in finding a new dump site. Any municipality that might be considered as the possible loca- tion for a Metro garbage dump de- serves the protection of hearings under the Environmental Assess- ment Act, stated Mayor Taylor.
