Mrs. Flora Samells joined othe members of the family for the christening of her great-grandchild Richard Henry Hewitt in the An- glican Church in Thornhill on Saturday night. Weekend guests of George and Brenda Bryant and Christopher were Dwayne Bryant of Guelph and Julie Bryant and Nicole Roy of Espanola, who both attend school at North Bay. 'Glenn and Marion Larmer have reason to be looking very proud these days with the arrival of their first grandchild--a daugher born to Craig and Joyce in Port Perry last week. Congratulations. Mike Pashley attended the Re- gional Lions Public Speaking Contest recently. He spoke very well but did not place in the win- ners' circle. The Lions' Club ex- tended continued improvement to Dr. Howard Gauthier who contin- ues to improve following his traf- fic accident. Two Lions and their wives became parents to new ba- bies. The Lions Club extends con- gratulations to Lion Craig Harri- son and wife Kelly, and Lion Jerry Gerritt and wife Marie on these happy arrivals. In the Floor Hockey the Bom- bers defeated the Leafs 7-3 with Brad Morton scoring 6 and Bren- nan Malcolm one and Jason Lo- - gan, Douglas Lynde and Dillion Weber each scoring one for the Leafs. In the Seniors, the Canadians outscored the Bruins 8-7. Scoring for the winners were Peter Simms, 3, Brendon Agney, 2, R.J. Les and Leah Assel- stine and boys of Kitchener also attended. The Kitchener team won the silver medals. Gayle had at- tended the Olympics as a member of the 26 girl Kitchener precision skating team. Not knowing the English language at that time, they were very grateful to helpful neighbours. Steve never forgot his friend of a close age, Alan Carter who diligently worked with him to teach him English. As years roll- ed on he frequently invited Irene and Alan to family functions. While on the Island farm he spent some time working for the late Murray McLaren to enable the family to buy a horse. Irene and Alan along with the former Tot Carter were able to attend his funeral.
