NATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL National Book Festival takes place from April 16-23 and Cana- dian authors and illustrators will be promoted all across the country. There has been some controver- sy existing in the literary com- munity over the separate celebra- tion of "Canadian" writers. These authors compete in a very large. ocean, and recognition is often very hard to achieve, however Dare to Dream theme of Education Education Week is April 17-23. The theme is "Dare to Dream." The sewing classes of Durham Region have decided to showcase the talented students. Sewing is a creative activity that can become a career or remain a hobby. All garments modelled by the students have been sewn by them. The show will be at the Oshawa Centre, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. The stage is being constructed by students at General Vanier. The background display is design- ed by Jenny Bryan a Gr. 12 stu- dent at General Vanier School. Posters & programs are printed by Graphics Class at G.V.S.S. It reminds us that youth confront the same problems no matter where they live. Our writers are tops! It has taken an effort by teachers, booksellers, librarians and others in the literary field to show us that the Canadian experience and the talents of Canadian authors are exceptional and exciting.
