Nursing home news Exciting scavenger hunt by Wendy Clark I hope that everyone has taken the time to enjoy the beautiful spring weather that we have been having. Monday April 11th, a group of residents gathered together for a bible quiz. This quiz was put to- gether by Mr. Barhardt from the Villa. Shortly after the Oshawa Senior Citizen club Choir under the direction of Marg Wright vis- ited us and sang several lovely caster and spring songs. As, al- ways the residents requested many old time favorites. On Tuesday we had a very excit- ing scavenger hunt. The top win- ners were 1st: D. Archer, 2nd: D. Spencly, Best Effort: L. Short. Afterwards there was crafts. We have now finished the toilet paper holders. In the evening the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church provided a ser- vice. On the 13th was our Resi- dents Council meeting. The resi- dents have decided that they would like to stage an appreciation day for the staff and also go ahcad on their fundraising plans to purchase an awning for their patio. JOHN BROWN United Church celebrates at Anniversary Service The Methodist roots in the United Church will be the theme when Port Perry United Church holds its anniversary service on Sunday, May 1. The service, to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Port Per- ry Church, will start at 10:00 AM, and will be followed by a lunch and social hour in the audi- torium. The Rev. John Brown will ive a sermon on John and harles Wesley, the founders of Methodism, which was the largest denomination to make up the ARLIE MOTOR SALES United Church when it was formed in 1925. Charles Wesley wrote some 6,000 hymns during his life-time, and the United Church Choir will sing three of those hymns during the anniversary service. As well, prior to the serive there will be a hymn-sing of other hymns by Charles Wesley.
