Mrs. Lizzie Cookman has returned to her home in Sunderland last Wednesday after a stay with her son Mr. and Mrs. Ross Cookman. Another 80th Birthday celebra- Mother's Day on this Sunday tion, this one was for Mr. Turner Ashenhurst of Uxbridge. The family held a drop-in at Trinity United Church Hall, Uxbridge on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Armour McMillan attended this happy event to wish him well. May 6th will be the next Teen Dance in the Community Hall at 7:30 to 11 p.m. Music by "Rebel D.J." with soft drinks and chips available. This is an adult super- vised dance. Scugog Island Women's Institute The April meeting of the Scugog Island Women's Institute was also the Annual Meeting and was well attended. Roll Call was answered with payment of dues and by describing a favourite hobby. Margaret Morrow brought some of her needlepoint for display. After the business session, presided over by Mary Ostrom, the incoming officers for 1988/89 were installed by District Past President Mrs. Alva Thompson. Mary Ostrom will be our Branch Denture Therapy Clinic President for another term. An- nual Reports were read by Pro- gram Co-ordinator Clara Dowson and P.R,0. Connie Haigh. Secretary's and Treasurer's 'reports were read by Penny Kutlik and Betty Reader respec- . tively.
