The two partners have been fishing Lake Scugog for years and decided they would like to get into the tackle and bait business. They also carry supplies for the sport of archery for target shooters and hunters. (see story for details) Partners open new business on Water Street Jim Palmer and Dale Irvin en- joy fishing and they've been coming to Lake Scugog for years, winter and summer, to put a line in the water. The two young Oshawa men often thought to themselves that a tackle and bait shop near the lake would prove popular with anglers, and about two years ago, they ser- iously began to make plans to open such a shop. Well, about two weeks ago, they finally opened the doors of JD Fishing and Archery Supplics, in the Lakeview Plaza at 30 Watcr Street. STATIONERY Plain and Printed. Response so far has been very positive, Jim said last week. And now that the pickerel sea- son is open, they expect business to be be brisk. Being so close to the lake, a lot of their customers arc youngsters who drop in for some supplies and then do their fishing from the shore of the lake. Not only will the store offer a full line of well known brand name fishing gear at all price lev- els, a 350 gallon tank has been installed for live bait like min- nows, dew worms, leeches, cray- fish and frogs when available. The archery supply part of the business is Dale's area of exper- tise. He took up bow hunting ser- iously a couple of years ago, and he said there are a lot of people in the Scugog area who enjoy target and hunting archery. To cater to the needs of an- glers, the store will be open cven- ings and weekends, including Sundays. The two partners say for the time being they are plowing all the profits right back in stock for the store. They have hired one cmployee to work week-days, but Jim and Dale are there in the cvenings and on weekends. They will continue their other jobs for the time being as well, Dale as a machinest with Whitby Steel and Jim as a brick-layer. Te To TL Ww Sry pn --
