In the Blackstock United Church, Heather Jamieson became the bride of Jeffrey Fisher of Guelph. The reception and dance was held in the Oddfellows Hall, Port Perry. Angela MacDonald became the bride of Thomas Walsh in Bowmanville Pentecostal Church. Best wishes to both couples. On Sunday, May 1, Lori (Cole) Beer, Angela's maid of honour hosted a bridal shower in honour of Angela. A large crowd of friends attended this happy event. After the many lovely gifts were opened, and Angela had replied fittingly, Lori and her mother served a delicious lunch. Aleta Hartin of Madoc is spen- ding a short holiday with her cousin Audrey Jamieson. Aleta attended the Fisher-Jamieson wedding on Saturday. Greensboro Drive was a busy place on Saturday evening with two birthday parties taking place. Grant and Lorna Edgerton and girls hosted a family gathering in honour of Bessie Crawford's bir- thday. Across the street pat Obstfeld held a surprise party in honour of her husband George's birthday. A large number of friends, and neighbours helped George celebrate this event. Don't worry George - Life begins at Forty! Happy birthday to both Bessie and George. The O.N.O. Club is holding a special Alumni Night at the home of Joan Graham this Thursday, May 12 at 8 p.m. All former members are invited to attend. Bring old pictures or slides with you for an evening of remember- ing events over the years. A special note of appreciation is extended to the canvassers and the supporters of the recent Cancer Society's Drive. Just a reminder to the Blackstock Bush Bunch to set your alarm clocks early for your hike on Saturday morning at En- niskillen Conservation Area. We will be meeting at the United Church at 8:30 sharp. The Durham East 4-H Personal Finance has been changed to Wednesday, May 18 instead of May 11. Roy Turner Greenhouses held the annual Open House on the weekend with a large number of visitors enjoying a tour of the greenhouses and having refreshments with Shirley as hostess. Last week Tara Bailey, Karen Kyte and Cathy Paisley par- ticipated in their 50 mile hike for the Gold Level of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. They en- joyed beautiful weather and returned in quite fine condition. Sheila and Bill Shortridge, Stephanie and Casie entertained their families for Mother's Day and to celebrate Casie's fourth birthday on Monday. Guests who enjoyed the Sunday barbecue were Mrs. Erskine, Dale and Gary Russell, Thornhill, Hector and May Shortridge, Judy Hopkins, Danielle and Ryan all of Blackstock. There were a great many pink balloons flying on Mason Street celebrating the arrival of Sarah the baby daughter of Kelly and Terry Gatchell. The balloons were put there, I understand, by neighbour Brenda Hellingman and friend Susan Fisher of Lon- don who is visiting her grand- parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Staniland. Sharon and Herb Benedict and son Jamie are living with her mother Marilyn Bailey while their new house is being built on Church St. West on the lot beside her grandparent's home. Tara Bailey left on Friday for a six week vacation in Australia where her brother Howard has been working since last September.
