Local YMCA floor hockey results On Monday May 2, the Port Perry Junior Floor Hockey team played host to the Blackstock Bombers in a very exciting game that went into sudden death over- time with Adam Jones scoring the winning goal for Port Perry to win by 7 to 6. After the first period, the Bombers were ahead by 3 to 1 with Marc Versage doing all the damage for the Bombers by get- ting all 3 goals. Jason Gunn pick- ed up the lone goal for the Port Perry Blue Jays. In the second period, Ronald Kelly scored the only goal for the Armchair The poet Longfellow describes armchair travel as 'travels by the fireside...while journeying with another's feet', a chance to daydream of far away places to be seen, almost as good as the real thing. This month the flight by film will be to Scotland with a stop-over in Britain. Three films will be shown, "Wild Highlands" a film on the wildlife inhabiting the western highlands of Scotland. The film "Enchanted Isles' follows the "Royal Tour" to the Hebrides, with visits to Iona, Fingal's cave, Larsen and Mark Souter, while Doug Short and Kevin Pike played a strong game in the Blue Jay's net.: Ir the Intermediate game, the Cartwright Leafs had to score in a sudden death overtime period to beat the Port Perry Shooting Stars by the score of 6 to 5. Jason Logan scored the winning goal for the Leafs as well as picking up singles in each of the other two periods of this floor hockey game. Brad Morton scored two goals for the Leafs while Tommy Waters assisted with one goal. Brenda Tromans played great in net for the Leafs while Kevin Gilbanks, Matthew Bradburn, Douglas Lynde and Brandon Johnson worked extra hard to earn this win. A special thanks goes out to Brandon Johnson for playing with this short handed Cartwright team. For the Shooting Stars, Steven Bisschop scored 2 goals while Sean Sauter, Jeff Whitfield and Matthew Koetje assisted their team by getting one goal each. Pat Smith played well in the net for the Shooting Stars while David Verschuuren, Kris Holland, Spencer Bedell, Jeff Vanderby, and Josh Duncan worked very hard offensively for their team, the Stars. On Tuesday, May 3, the Port Perry Seniors played in Coyne, RI SR PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, May 10, 1988 -- 49 Team and lost by the score of 11 to 6. After the first period, the Blackstock Seniors were winning by the score of 4 to 3 but the awesome offensive attack by Blackstock in the second period | couldn't be stopped by Matthew in net, and Blair Prechitko, lan Perine, Andrew Jones, Wade Sheedy and John Hall on defense. Good try, Port Perry! Danny Bycock scored four goals for Blackstock while Bren- don Agnew scored 3 to earn his hat trick. Daryl Dutkewich scored two goals and Paul Bycock and Peter Simms each assisted with one goal each, while Kendall Chorostecki and Mike Hepburn shared the goal tending duties for Blackstock. Scoring for Port Perry was Kevin Pearce for four goals while Kevin Stewart and Louis Whit- field with a hard blast from the centre line, scored one goal each. The senior team returns to Blackstock on May 10, 1988 to play their strong senior team to get ready for the Tournament on May 14 at Henry Street High School in *Whitby, game time at 8:45 a.m. The Junior teams play at 8:00 a.m. on May 14 while all of the In- termediate teams start playing on May 13 at 7:15 p.m. for the Bruins and Shooting Stars while the Leafs and Red Rockets take over Samantha Espley, past honours graduate from Port Perry High School, has completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Geo-Engineering with high stan- dings from the University of Toronto.
