The reception was held in the Oddfellows Hall, Port Perry. Hugh and Shirley McKee of Norwich were Saturday overnight guests of his sister Jean and Bill Ferguson and Kevin following his nephew Alan's wedding. Marie Gibson assisted by her daughters hosted a family bridal shower in honour of bride-to-be Marilyn Duff. Attending were Marily's Graham relatives from various points. Mother's Day guests of Flora Samells were Melville and Doris Samells and Carol of Bowman- ville, Anna Powell of Orono, Roger and Kathy Hewitt and baby Richard, Ken Samells of Thornhill. May Shortridge and Flora Samells were W.I. guests from Blackstock branch to help Solina W.I. celebrate the 85th anniver- sary last Wednesday. Guests from each branch the pot luck supper and programme that followed. -Bob Almack, Outdoor Educa- tion Consultant of Durham Board of Education arranged and con- ducted a four day excursion to Point Pelee National Park on the shores of Lake Erie last week to study bird life. This Durham Board trip had 21 secondary Science students attending which included Cartwright High School's representatives - Esther Kelly and Tammy McMillan who reported a very educational trip and a great time! Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson were his nephew and his wife Allan and Elaine Francis of Oshawa. The annual Cartwright High School At Home was held on Saturday evening at the Nestleton Hall. Congratulations to Tiffany deKnecht who was chosen Queen and to Claire MacKenzie and Sheryl Porter who were princesses. A good number of Guiders and members of the Oshawa Division of Girl Guides attended the Open House at the New Guide proper- ty on Purple Hill road west of Lishman"s. Doreen VanCamp, candidate for Ministry is to be ordained by the Bay of Quinte Conference at Brockville on Sunday, May 29 at 3 p.m. Those persons wishing to attend might call Dale Davis so that rides may be co-ordinated. This coming weekend is star- ting to look busy already. The Central Ontario Rabbit show will be held in the Rec. Centre on Saturday. A banquet and dance will follow. All the festivities are open to anyone. Friday evening the local Junior Farmer Club will be hosting a dance in Nestleton. PORT PERRY Everyone is welcome to attend. Make a date to attend the C.H.S. evening of drama when the three houses each present a one act play. The dates this year are May 26 and 27 at the rec. Centre. On the weekend the Blackstock District Lions Club held a very successful Flea Market at the Blackstock Arena. Great crowds and brisk sales made the organizers pleased with the event. On Saturday, May 14, the Blackstock Bush Bunch and the Wilderness Wackys travelled to Enniskillen Conservation Area to see nature face to face. Our ex- pedition started bright and early at 8:30 a.m. Our outing included several games in which we used our five senses--sight, hearing, touch, smell and some even tried a taste of nature. Our Youth Leader, Esther, demonstrated how to pitch a three man tent, and how to tie some useful knots.
