2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, May 25, 1988 The first holiday weekend of this summer is now over, and the thousands of vacationers who left the concrete jungle last Friday slowly made their way home on Monday night. The above photo, taken at the corner of 7A and Queen Street near the Brewers Retall store about 4:00 p.m. Monday, and shows how the traffic was backing up at that corner. Palmer Park was busy all weekend with families en- joying the warm weather and shunshine, but still had to contend with the traffic when they left for home. -- NOW OPEN -- currently accepting bookings for PORTRAITS -- WEDDINGS -- COMMERCIAL WORK --- HIL WALMSLEY 40 Water Street HOTOGRAPHY Port Perry, Ont 985-0744 awards (From page 1) whelmed. calls. awards. POLKA DOT DOOR For the children, back by popu- lar demand is "Polka Dot Door Live" with Polkaroo, Marigold, Bear and Humpty Dumpty. While the show is designed pri- marily for those of pre-school age, adults will also enjoy themselves during this 45 minute show. The shows hosts play games and sing songs with each of the four toys, building to the entrance of Polka- ° roo, whose appearance never fails to generate great excitement among the children. Polka Dot Door will be staged in the Festival Tent in Palmer Park on Friday, July 15 at 1:00 p.m., and tickets are $5.00 per person. BEATLEMANIA One of the most exciting shows . to take place over the Great Brit- ain Festival Days will undoubted- ly by Beatlemania. The Scugog Chamber of Com- merce has booked the "original cast of Beatlemania" for a one night show in the Festival. Tent and this promises to be a real treat for old Beatles fans. The Beatlemania performers were selected from thousands of actor/musicians to star on Broad- way in Beatlemania in 1978, and since then have toured the world setting box office records in Tok- yo and London. This production is a faithful rec- reation of the excitement, sounds, and sights of a live Beatle concert with special attention being paid to detail from the exact hairstyle, to duplicate musical gear. The curtain opens to find the boys dressed in black suits and Beatle Boots made famous on the Ed Sullivan Show, circa 1964. They perform songs from the ear- ly Beatle erea including "I Want To Hold Your Hand", "Eight Days A Week", "Can't Buy Me Love", etc. During the second set, they change into the Sgt. Pepper era dress including psychedelic cos- tumes from 1967. Here they per- form songs such as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", and "Magical Mystery Tour". The finale is a rousing show concluding with Beatle classics like "Let It Be", "Hey Jude", and "Revolution". Don't take a chance of missing out on the limited number of tick- ets for this exciting, nostalgic show in the Festival Tent on Sat- urday, July 16. Tickets go on sale at Emmerson Insurance Office this Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. for $15.00 per person. (See ad in this issue of the Star for deatils on all of the above- shows).
