All those present at the Sunday School Anniversary en Sunday certainly énjoyed the musical production "Down by the Creek Bank' put on by the pupils and helpers. On a scale of 1 to 10 it cer- tainly rated 10. The set, props and special effects were very ap- propriate and related to the music ° and dialogue. On Sunday morning Rod Foster and Murray Lee presented Mrs. Norrine Cook with a President's Day Leadership Certificate for long time service to her church. Little Robbie Watson did the honours. On Frida evening May 27th, the following piano students of Betty McGee took part in a piano recital at Greenbank Church with Debbie Beattie as M.C. Tracey Clarkson, Renee and Lea Anne Parish, Amy and Lisa Timms, Charity Jarvis, Amanda Robert- son, Joanna Shepherd, Amanda Elliott, Adam Hunter, Jay King, Jennifer Galberg, Dodie Bell and Dana Hooker. Holly Beattie sang two numbers. Our guest pianist was Linda Hunter who played "The Homecoming' by Hagood Hardy. We then enjoyed the cake which was so nicely decorated by Dot Hooker. Betty McGee would like to thank all her students for doing so very well at the recital. « Mrs. Arvilla Phoenix attended the 60th Anniversary of her graduation class from Western Hospital last week. She was very happy to be one of the nine pre- sent for the occasion. The June meeting of the Women's Institute will be at the home of Mrs. Neil Hunter on Wed. the 15th, 2 p.m. There will be a guest who is speaking on different crafts. All ladies welcome. On Saturday, May 28 Mr. and Mrs. Art Couves attended a lun- cheon in honour of Mrs. Wm. Walker's (formerly of Green- bank) 90th birthday at the home of her son Jim at Thornhill. Also attending were friends and relatives, some of whom were from Pinedale district including her sister Mrs. Frank Troop, Mrs. Marian Johnson, Mrs. Marian Snodden, Mrs. Reta Wilson, Mrs. Franklin and the Rev. Roscoe Chapin (former Greenbank minister) who is 99 years old. Our Brownies have had an ex- citing week to mark the end of the year. On Tuesday, May 31 we had our Parent-Daughter Banquet. The company was terrific and the food was excellent. We presented Golden Bar, Golden Ladder, Golden Hand and Service Stars to several of our girls. Our Brownie of the year Award went to a well deserving individual - Amanda Baker. The highlight of the even- ing was a ceremony to celebrate the "going up" of six Brownies to Guides. They are Dana Hooker, Amanda Robinson, Sara Clarke, Yvonne Kangas, Heather Harris and Juli-Ana Lee. Congratula- tions to everyone for their fine achievements. On Saturday the 4th, we head- ed off to Beaverton to attend our Rally Day. This year's theme was the Olympics, with sporting events being completed by Brownies & Guides alike. Everyone will receive their Athletics badge when we meet again. HillBilly's 38-Orial 30 The Sunday night baseball game of the week in Greenbank had the two local senior teams in a showdown at dusk. The game had all the thrills and chills of a heavy weight battle. Leading the way for the Hillbil- ly's was Jim the Pistal Fletcher, 3 homers, one of which a grand slam, Butch (Socky) Bailey with a grand slam and a homer. The entire Hillbilly team offen- sively and defensively -- all 16 players, plus player-coach L. Pro- haska, played a game that will not - soon be forgotten. Game highlights a mid inning's rally by the Orials to tie the game in the 6th but overwhelming power and a determined Hillbilly team held off and blasted their way to victory. Great time had by all.
