Members of the Port Perry Fiddle Club were on hand Friday night to provide some good old-fashioned toe-tappin" music at the annual Greenbank United Church beef bar-b-q. Close to 900 people attended the bar-b-q under perfect weather conditions. Church BBQ provided some old-fashioned fun Greenbank and Area News by Doris Hill The annual Church Barbeque on Friday evening was the usual big success with so many donating their time and labour. The weather was perfect. The pies were delicious. The beef was cooked just right and the pleasant entertainment added the last touch to a very enjoyable evening. It was provided by a few of the members of the Port Perry Fid- dle Club. Glen, Sharon and Laura Gibson, Ted Krainyk, Jim Wight, Ken and Rae Knights, Isac Smith and Vivian Clarke. Many thanks to all those who contributed their efforts. and also Graduate Heather M. McDougall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McDougall, Port Perry, graduated with honours from the University of Toronto with a degree in Physical and Health Education on June 10, 1988. Heather was awarded the P. HE. Scholarship for top average as well as the Fourth Year Alumni Shield for her overall contribution to the program. She will be continuing her studies at the University of Toron- to in Rehabilitation Medicine. to those who attended. We hope to see you next year. There will be no church service on Sunday School at Greenbank during the month of August. The Women's Institute meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. W. Earle on August 17 at 2 p.m. - further details next week. Congratulations to Lana and Larry Midgley on the birth of a son, Clinton, on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs, Geoffrey Oldnall and family have been entertain- ing her mother, Mrs. Hook from Peterborough this past week. Earla Hill has returned from seven weeks of travelling around Europe and Great Britain. She visited fourteen countries and Denture Therapy Clinic saw many exciting places. Sorry to report that Mrs. Sally Bishop is still a patient in Oshawa General Hospital. Mrs. Marion Jermey and boys of Orillia spent a few days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Couperthwaite. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace McMillan, Hawkstone, and Mr. and Mrs. Ken McMillan and boys from Hussar, Alberta called on Mrs. Olive McMillan last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. G. Oldnall are entertaining his sister June Oldnall from Warwickshire, England, and are taking her to many points of interest during her three week visit. For the ladies, the morning will begin with a coffee and fellowship time, and will continue with singing and Bible study.
