Nursing Home news _ tc ---- a SI A PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, August 16, 1988 -- 19 Slushes and popsicle treats beat the heat by Wendy Clark Well the summer is just flying by. Before long the kids will be back in school. Over the first week of August (2-5) we sup- ported many activities such as gardening, church service by the P.P. Anglican Church, manicures, popsicle treats from the treat wagon, coffee hour on the patio, euchre, crafts, swimm- ing, music appreciation, ice cream parlour, staff lunches, quiz and also making up a few batches of slush. The following week (8-12) we started off with a very com- petitive bowling match. Tuesday morning we went for a BBQ and visit at Sunnycrest Nur- sing Home in Whitby. After tak- ing in a tour of their home we all relaxed out on their patio. Each of us were served a cool refresh- ment and then we devoured the delicious BBQ hot dogs and hamburgers. Once lunch was completed we STEELE -- JEPMA On June 11, 1988, at the Port Perry Baptist Church, Elizabeth Jep- ma and Todd Steele were united in marriage by Pastor Don Payne. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Bill Jepma of the Philip- pines and the groom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Steele of Port Perry. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown of white tafet- ta with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice and full sleeves featured ap- pliques of lace and seed pearls. The skirt of the gown formed a semi- cathedral train with two ruffles. She wore a matching brimmed hat with a fingertip veil that was ac- cented with lace appliques and seed pearls. . Heather Barten, friend of the bride, was the maid of honour. The bridesmaids were Shelley Jepma, Lee-Ann Jepma, sisters of the bride and Natalie Burnet and Judy Birkett, friends of the bride. The atten- dants wore aqua tea-length dresses and carried bouquets of pink and white gladiolas with aqua ribbon. The groom wore a black tuxedo with tails. The best man was John Jepma, brother of the bride. The ushers were Frank Vehof, Mike Putt, Jeff Burnet and Den Collins, all friends of the groom. The ushers wore black tuxedos with aqua bow ties and cummerbunds. The reception was also held at Port Perry Baptist Church. The Master of Ceremonies was Darryl Dallas, friend of the couple. The couple went to a cottage on Oak Lake for their honeymoon. Numerous showers were held by family and friends. LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS? Look here! ...
