There is a new and attractive sign for the Scugog Soccer Fields, thanks to the generous efforts of Big V Pharmacy and Provincial Traffic Signs who contribut- ml ed to the labour and materials. Mr. Cosway sald later the Soccer organization Is now In the process of drawing up plans for construction of a new snack bar, locker room and washroom at the fields, something which is badly needed. Good summer of soccer for boys Scugog Bantam boys are enjoy- ing a good summer of soccer. This group of boys is in the Darlington Youth Soccer Club which hosts teams from Tyrone, Lindsay, Oshawa, Newcastle and Bowman- ville. Our boys have done excep- ,. tionally well considering the somewhat shaky beginning -- no coach and not quite enough boys to complete a full team. It all pull- ed together and they have had a fine showing. . Of 13 games played this season they have won 6, tied 2, lost 4 and unfortunately had a default recorded against them in July. Jamie Brown and Shawn Plain - are leaders in goal scoring with Jamie recording 16 goals and Shawn 13. Other scorers for the team have been Jason Reetham- Clayton 6, Greg Neve 5, Doug Craig, Jason Towns 2 each and Ian Cobham, Alec Cranmer & Jerry Blackburn 1 a piece. Ty, This past week the boys had 2 games and came away winners in both. They showed excellent pass- ing skills and really worked together as a team to defeat Tyrone 9-0 on Tuesday, August 9. With a day of rest between, they got right back to it on Thursday, August 11 and defeated Lindsay by a closer margin of 2-1. John Chambers and Joey Drebit led the way offensively for Home Hard- ware with three runs each, and Michael Stevens contributed a great double hit in his final at bat. Defensively, the fans were treated to a double play executed by Mark Sauter and Joey Drebit. For Marlin Travel, Daryl 'Dalton was 3 for 3 at the plate, Alex Dell contributed two hits, and Danny Drebit starred offen- sively and defensively, with a double, 2 runs and an excellent catch. Star continues winning ways SQUIRT DIVISION Van Camp Construction with three goals from Blaine Kinnunen and two from Jonathan Reed got back on the winning track with a 5-0 win over Classic Photos. In the other game Port Perry Star continued their winning ways with a 2-0 win over the Royal Canadian Legion.
