Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Nestleton Women's Institute Summer Outing A most enjoyable summer out- ing was arranged by Norma Frew, convenor of Education and Cultu- ral Activities and held on Wednes- day August 10. Members and some visitors gathered at the Bon- fire Restaurant for a tempting lun- cheon, and then attended the mati- nee at the Academy Kawartha Summer Theatre for the play enti- tled "The 101 Miracles of Hope Chance"...Allan Stratton's new comedy drama...a well- -staged pro- duction! The next meeting will be held on Wednesday Sept. 7th at the Nestleton Community Centre with two visiting branches as guests. The special er will Mrs. Christine Gill of Nestle- ton. We would welcome ladies of the community to attend this meeting on International Affairs with Doris Nottingham in charge of the program. Reunion and Visits A Highlight! Don and Norma Frew, Nestleton, recently attended the summer re- union of their friends from Wood- brook Estates, Lakeland Florida. The get-together was held at the lovely farmstead of Ray and Becky Poole, Perth, Ontario. July was a busy month for Don and Norma with family reunions at Burford and Port Hope. A pleasant surprise was the vis- it of a distant cousin of Don's...Barbara Thomson of Ba- singstoke, Hampshire England. Barbara was visiting friends in Oshawa when she noticed that Nestleton wasn't too far away...so she rented a car and dropped by for a nice visit and compared informa- tion on the family tree of the Gib- bard clan from Oxfordshire! Wedding of Interest! The reception was held in the Manvers Community Centre with guests from Ohio, Missouri, To- ronto, Peterborough, Lindsay, Oshawa, Sunderland, Port Perry, and local points! The newlyweds will be residing in Nestleton! Caesarea Euchre Results On Wednesday evening at the centre, first prize was a tie with Margaret Smith and Kathleen Watts each holding an 80. A close runner-up was Norman Rohrer with 77. Sharon Smith came in third with 52. Sharon hosted the lovely lunch. How about next week with maybe a prize? An en- joyable evening for all attending. The Church News At the Nestleton Presbyterian Church...due to the extreme heat, a very informal service was held on Sunday at 10 a.m. We were pleased to have Susan Barbe as our guest speaker. She chose as her topic Psalm 103, reading from the new International Version of the Bible, "Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, Friday euchre in Utica There will be no church service this week on this side of the charge, but everyone is invited to join with Goodwood for a joint Congregational service and picnic at the home of Pat and Tom Red- wood at 11 a.m. This Friday is euchre night in' Utica hall beginning at 8 p.m. All euchre players are welcome. A warm welcome to Michael and Donna Dupont who have come to the village from Oshawa. The Duponts moved into the for- mer Carre home this past week.
