Scootfer's earnings 1 million By sweeping Calgary's Nat Christie Stakes by an impressive 10 lengths, Utica's wonder horse Matt's Scooter has won his own- ers more than $1.1 million so far this racing season. Matt's Scooter, owned by Gord Rumple and Charlie Jurabinski, and trained by Harry Poulton, ran the Nat Christie Stakes Sunday August 14 at Calgary's Stampede Park, and picked up $75, of the $150,000 purse. The pacing team was clocked at 1:54. That race officially made Matt the richest standardbred in North America. Not to be outdone, the plucky horse went for gold once again Sunday August 21, this time at Montreal's Blue Bonnet track in the Prix dete. After capturing $87,000 in the first race, Matt went on to the fi- nal, and won his owners a cool $ 116,000, despite intense compe- tition from rival horse Runny- mede Labelle. Matt's next race is this Sunday August 28, in the Confederation Cup at Flamborough Downs. > CIBC CANADIAN IMPERIAL BANK of COMMERCE 145 Queen Street -- Port Perry Extended hours on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Saturdays are for your personal banking convenience.
