He also presented long-time director Ivan Cochrane with an Agricultural Service Diploma, the highest award in Agricultural Societies. District 4 director Guy Scott and Homecraft represen- tative Marjorie Toms each brought greetings and best wishes for a successful fair. Richard MacKenzie acted as capable M.C. for the day's programme. During the day entertainer Dale Page and his friend Mo pleased the visitors with their per- formers. Two magic shows by Cathy and Stew Garland and their son Keith amazed large crowds. The Pine Ridge Cloggers also gave two performances to the delight of the large audiences. Once again the Media Milking Contest proved to be popular. Gerry Brett of the Oshawa C.K.AR. was the winner. other contestants were Peter Hvidstein of the Port Perry Star, Bob Eakins of the C.K.L.Y., Lindsay and Rick Eglington of the Toron- to Star who all did very well. The Farm Olympics were a new feature with the winners be- ing declared as the Newtonville Neugies. Hoskins Stables performed their musical ride with fine precision. Throughout the day an ex- cellent horse show pleased many visitors. The afternoon's events concluded with the horse pull which to many is the best enter- tainment that the fair can offer. Once again Blackstock Fair concluded with a dance to the music of Bakerline D.J. Cartwright lost another of it's senior citizens with the passing of Ed Harris on Saturday morning. Mr. Harris has been a resident of Port Perry Nursing Home for several years. Sympathy is ex- tended to his family Jean Mahaf- fy, Lorna and Grant Edgerton and their families both of Blackstock as well as to Jim Har- ris, Shirley Magill, Reta Birkett and Verna Chapman and their families. The funeral service is on Monday from Wagg Funeral Home, Port Perry. Don't forget the annual Purple Hill L.O.L. Barbecued Steak din- "ner and dance in Nestleton on September 24th. The Dorrells toured the Scandinavian countries where they enjoyed seeing many many interesting sights. Les and Janice Bushfield, Trevor and Dana of London spent the weekend with her parents Murray and Aileen Byers. Ben and Marj Madill of Bramp- ton spent the weekend with Bill and Ruth Marconi. They were at the Blackstock Fair where Ben put on a rope making demonstra- tion and enjoyed surprising peo- ple walking about the grounds on his. stilts.
