The hap- py 60th Anniversary celebration was held on Sunday, September 4th at the home of Rob, Carol, Steven and Katie Mairs, Nestleton. Those in attendance were Jack and Marion Marlow, Dundas, John, Jan, Chris and Danny Marlow, Concord, New Hampshire, Tim, Jane and Robyn Armstrong of Sudbury, Patricia, Deanna and Michael Wilson of Milton, Neil, Eleanor and Joy Werry and friend Ian Rudkin. Larry and Joanne Werry of Prince Albert, Neil, Elaine, Howard and Tara Bailey and friends Julie Wright and Terry Taylor. Congratulations were received from H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth, Buckingham Palace, Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Premier David Peterson, M.P.P. Sam Cureatz and Mayor Jerry Taylor as well as numerous cards and telephone calls from many friends and relatives. All of Ruth and Grant's children, grand- children and great grandchildren were present for this special oc- casion. Heartiest congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. Craig Paisley who has been employed during the past two years as a television news reporter and anchor host for the weekend news review at Channel 13 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba has accepted a new position. Craig is now a member of the news reporting team of CITV, Edmonton, Alberta. In- terestingly enough this station is available to Blackstock residents who subscribe to Cable TV so even though Craig is further away, he still can be seen locally. Best wishes, Craig in your new position. About thirty friends and relatives helped Nelly Keuning celebrate her 30th birthday at Pete and Nelly's new home in Enniskillen. Nancy and Bob Bryans went to Fenelon Falls on Friday evening to pay their respects to their friends, Henry and Jean Chafe's 18 year old son Todd Chafe who was killed in a car accident. Cathy Paisley is resuming her studies at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in the 3rd year of the Business Management Degree course. Debbie and Gord Bryans at- tended the funeral on Monday of Deb's cousin Joe Bryant of Oshawa. Nancy and Bob Bryans along with 150 other relatives and friends were guests at Nancy's uncle, Harry Gay's 75th birthday party at Cullen Gardens. Glenn and Marion Larmer have returned home from Victoria, British Columbia where Glenn represented the Bay of Quinte Conference at the recent General Council of the United Church. On Sunday morning at the United Church, Glenn was the speaker using 'Our Covenant Family" as his topic. Best wishes to Jim and Barbara Sleep, Blaine and Bristol on their move to their new location south of Burketon. There were 11 tables at the weekly card party with the follow- ing winners - 1. Charyl Graham of Waterloo spent the weekend with her parents Harvey and Joan Graham, Mark and Rob. Over the weekend many of our local residents participated in hoth Port Perry and Kinmount Fairs as visitors, exhibitors and judges. While the weather was far from ideal, programmes pro- gressed as planned in most cases. School begins this morning on a very cool morning. At C.C.P.S,, principal R. Rutledge will be meeting his students along with his staff. While at the Cartwright High School, principal Peter Fawcett will be faced with a new student body. We welcome you to our school. At this time each year, I at- tempt to create a list of post secondary students with their schools and courses. Please let me know of your or your children's locations so that a list may be made. Also, I would like to have a list of new jobs or posi- tions that the graduates are at. The readers of this column are always interested in what this community's young people are doing.
