Recently at the Crestwood Golf Club, 84 ladies braved the 100 degree weather in the twelfth an- nual Country Scramble. First place was taken by the team of Joan Moscrop, Peterborough Golf Club, Ellen Currie of Sunny Brae Golf Club, and Marion Harding of Ayren Links Golf Club. 2nd was Toky Sato, Tamarac, Eileen Dalby, Crestwood and Nancy Rogers, Western Trent, 3rd was Elsie Penrose, Peterborough, Jean Moore, Western Trent and Kay Mackie, Tamarac. Enter- tainment was provided by Marie Taylor and pal Marshall followed by a delicious buffet. August 26, at Crestwood Golf Club saw 22 juniors golfers com- pete in the annual Junior Golf Tournament. Undaunted by the rain showers, Robin Prentice took low gross with 84, Darrell Hales was tied with Allan Compton for 2nd low gross with a score of 85. 1st low net, Steve Laird and Cor- ey Hanna and Wallace Foster tied Be ---- Birdies, pars at Crestwood with 70, 2nd low net was won by Brent Harlow with 71. Lunch was followed by the prize presenta- tion. A special thanks to the Black Family for their donations and the sponsor A & D Sales of Lind- say, Ontario. » Labour Day weekend saw the final rounds of the mens and junior club championships at Crestwood Golf Club. The junior format was a two day event with the low gross winner being Dar- rell Hales with a score of 160 and the low net winner being James Black with a net score of 134. The mens format was a best three out of five rounds on designated dates with the final round played Sept. 5th. The low gross winner was David Hales with a score of 224 and the low net winner was Norm Patze with a net score of 191. See Center for detals PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, September 20, 1988 -- 33 More than 100 golfers (24 teams) braved and battled the history winds at Sun- nybrae on September 14 In the 6th annual tournament sponsored and hosted by the Port Perry Rotary Club. Despite the strong winds, the best ball format led to some fine scores with the lowest being a 62, nine under par. At left Rotary president Ted Blanchard and Jim Grleve present the IGA trophy to members of the winning team Rob Kroonenberg, Paul Beare and Jay Nelll. Not present for photo Is Tim Thompson. One shot back was the team of Les Kababiuk, Dennis Anderson, Randy Hathaway and Greg Heffering. Closest to the pin competition was won by Richard Honey and the longest drive was by Greg Heffering on No. 5. All teams entered were presented with prizes at a dinner which followed the round of golf. All net proceeds from this tournament are used by the Rotary Club for community projects.
