Lawrence for the past 40 years recently changed ownership as he sold the business to Mr. Gordon F. Parkin of Oshawa. Fifteen hundred Port Perry and area residents attend "Open House" at the new Community Memorial Hospital. More than 30 canoes took part in the first "Canoe the Nonquon". Winners were Greg Howard and Glen Fallis, Millbrook, Ontario. Celeste Briggs and Mary Ann Goreski were two of 24 boys and girls enjoying a two week holiday in Allantown, Pennsylvania on a Lions Club exchange program. Margaret Down, Sunderland was elected Ontario County Dairy Princess. The Tennis Club was formed in Port Perry under the guidance of Mrs. Georgia Brenden. AUGUST Dr. M. B. Dymond handed in- his resignation as Minister of Health for the Province of Onta- rio. He held positions in the cabi- net for 13 years, ten of them as Minister of Health. Rev. V. M. Parsons inducted as minister of Blackstock United Church following the retirement of Rev. P. Romeril.
