At Cartwright High School : Cartwright has charged into a new year with great enthusiasm and school spirit. The past two months have been extremely busy. To begin the year we attended an afternoon matinee of Taming of the Shrew and an evening per- formance of My Fair Lady. Following this, the grade nines were welcomed appropriately by the junior and senior students on Initiation Day. Dressed as Peewee Herman and oversized babies, they were auctioned for high prices and used as slaves for the extent of the noon hour. A pack of anxious outer's club members adventured into the wilderness of Algonquin Park for a four day canoe trip during the last weekend of September. All reports concluded that it was a fantastic get-away. The Tigers prevailed during the events of our annual Tabloid afternoon, October 3. The Oopiks turned out to be the dominant house league in our lunch hour soccer games. The girl's basketball season is proving to be quite successful with many victories and suspenseful games. And we can't forget Cartwright's hockey team. These boys haven't stopped talk- ing about their new jerseys, future games and initiation tactics. The Cartwright Wind Ensemble and Choir have been practising diligently in preparation for their first performances. on Com- mencement Night, November 12. There was a great turn out for ~ our 'Halloween Dance. Con- - gratulations to Donna Densmore and Mike Wilson for their winning costumes. In the spirit of Halloween our drama students created a sensory journey for all those who dared to . enter into the "Halloween Experience".
