Because of the large number seeking office, organizers have limited the formal speeches to just those running for the mayor and regional council posi- tions minutes to make their statements. Following that, the meeting will be open to questions from the floor, and the Ward candidates will be invited to answer from the stage. If you are interested in this municipal election, make a point to attend the candidates meeting, listen to what they have to say and bring your questions. The meeting, sponsored by the Catholic Womens League of Nestleton, will deal with the recy- cling programs, and what the indi- vidual citizen can do to promote and participate in recycling house- 'hold garbage. Guest speakers for the meet- ing will be John Hansen of the Recycling Council of Ontario, and Glenda Gies, manager of Durham Recycling, which has initiated the "Blue Box" program in many are- as of Durham, including Port Per- v Some of the topics which will be covered at this meeting include how children can get involved in recycling activities at home; and the kinds of household garbage that can effectively and safely re- cycled. Clarification An article in last week's Port Perry Star about Libertarian candi- date Rolf Posma may have left some confusion as to where he stands on the abortion issue. + Mr. Posma said he believes that a fetus has legal rights and thus deserves to have those rights protected by law.
