Larry Hoskin of Lake Louise spent a few days in the area visiting his parents Frank and Muriel Hoskin and other relatives and friends. On Saturday, Grant and Neil --Sergers- EL McLaughlin and Jean Mahaffy at- tended the funeral service for Mrs. Bob Mahaffy in St. Mary's, Ontario. Margaret had put up a valiant struggle against cancer for a considerable time. Earl Trewin of Enniskillen passed away on Saturday after a lengthy illness. Many from this area attended the funeral or visited the funeral parlour over the weekend. Sympathy is extend- ed to his wife Ruby and family Doreen and Don. Melville Henry of Oshawa, a former Purple Hill boy passed away on the weekend. Several from this area called to pay respects at that funeral home as well. It is of interest that Bob Mahaf- fy, Melville Henry and Ruby (Toms) Trewin were all school mates at Purple Hill School. Sym- pathy is extended to all who are bereaved by these three deaths. The 101st anniversary service of the Blackstock United Church was held on Sunday morning with the guest speaker Ron Neun who has recently returned from a two year project with the United Church of Zambia.
