14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 15, 1988 The Personal Touch sold After flve and a half years running The Personal Touch, co-owners Diane Hooker (second from left) and Nellle Stell (second from right) have sold their successful Mary St. floral shop. The new owners are Joan Frost (seated left) and Vivian Foster (seated right). Vivian has worked at The Personal Touch for three years. Nellle will continue to own the wedding section of Personal Touch, now re-named The Bridal Touch. Diane will be starting a career in real estate In this area sometime within the new year. Dur- ing the afternoon the Grade 1's from R.H. Cornish P.S. visited for a costume parade. Thank you to these great kids. Tuesday, November 1st we had a fashion show and sale hosted by Comfort Clothing Store. Many residents were interested in the variety of styles available. Church service in the evening was provided by the Port Perry United Church. The next day was a very popular manicure and peticure session. Thursday afternoon many ladies were trying their skill at silk scarf painting while the men were kept busy in the woodwork- ing shop. After supper there was a baking activity. Friday the 4th there was the choice of a baking session or a bingo game. We started off the second week of November with bowling. Top scorer of the day was B. Moroz with 102 points. Tuesday was a great day. Throughout the after- noon we had our wine & cheese party with entertainment provid- ed by Del Dickerson '(The Yorkshire Lad)."" Mr. Dickerson kept us well entertained with his jokes, his singing, his various in- strument playing, his dog -scamp- and his variety of hats. A delightful afternoon was enjoyed by all. In the evening a church - service was provided by the Port Perry Baptist Church. On Wednesday, everyone was busy doing their Christmas wish list and then afterwards we all joined in for a Christmas Carol trivia. After supper the craft club got together to teach the residents how to make heart lace tree ornaments. The following day was another craft time. Also the men enjoyed a game of darts. Friday finally arrived with many ladies busy at baking. Others enjoyed a game of Bingo. Being Remembrance Day we had a dedication speech and a silence period in remembrance of those who fought during the war. Many happy birthday wishes to Mrs. Klara Balling (22), Mr. Donald Spencley (23), Mrs. Sadie Ayers (26), Mr. Cecil Phillips (26), Mrs. Mabel Burgess (26) and Mr. John Doupe (27). The residents and staff would like to extend a warm welcome to Luvina Parkin. Luvina previous- ly lived at the Villa but will now make her home here in the nurs- ing home. Special events coming up are Shopping Trip (16), Door decorating (22), Residents Coun- cil (23), Dance - 7 p.m. (24), Mon- thly Birthday Party - 1:30 (28), and the Carlton Show Band Din- ner Theatre (30). We have also entered a float in the Santa Claus Parade (Nov. 26-2p.m.). See Ya There!!! Another reminder about our up- coming annual Christmas Bazaar will be on Saturday, Dec. 3. (114 p.m.) Country Christmas Bazaar - Nursing Home; Gingerbread Bazaar - Villa. PLEASE JOIN US Everyone is very pleased that we now have our library set up and in full use.
