20 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 15, 1988 Prince Albert and Area News by llean Pugh On Wednesday evening nine- teen members of the U.C.W. met in the church for their monthly meeting. Devotion was taken by Noreen Crosier & Lila Clarke. Opening hymn "We Give Thee But Thine Own" was sung. Scrip- ture was read by Lila - 1st Peter Chapter 4: 7-11. Noreen took the lesson "Sharing Our Gifts and Talents." Andrea had arranged for a film "The Gift" which was very good. Lila read a poem on peace and In Flanders Fields. Closing Hymn ""O God Our Help In Ages Past." President Diana Brough was in charge of the business. The beef supper was a great success. The treasurer gave her report and after discussion, money was voted to several com- munity projects and money to the church. Also hopefully the new floor covering will be down by the end of the year. Committees were put in to look after the Friendly Visitors Dinner and favours for the Shut In's on Christmas. The Christmas meeting will be on Dec. 14th at the home of Myrtle Snelgrove with a pot luck supper. Belated birthday greetings to Norris Howey who was 91 on Mon- day, Nov. 7. On Thursday evening the week- ly euchre was held with eight tables. A lot of the players went to Lindsay to see a play. The lucky winners were Blanche Baird, Alma Manns, Martha Franssen. Men: Verna Draper, George Harper and Frank An- drews. Draws: Carl Gimblett and Richard Manns. Congratulations to Edith Bowers on winning a basket of groceries at the Legion Bazaar on Saturday. Deepest sympathy to Larry Corrigan and children on the death of his wife, Sandra, and mother of five children. Sandra was a candidate for the Separate School Board. She will be sadly missed. Weekend visitors at the Arm- strong home was daughter Bren- da and Wayne McKinnon and family of Sterling. Lloyd and Beth Pereman and family spent the weekend at White Lake at the home of Beth's THE ZIOWS. on Main Street.
