The Choir has already given two performanc- es and Is In rehearsal for four Christmas presenta- tions in December of Handel's Messiah. (see story for detalls) "MORE THAN JUST A DAIRY STORE" torial choirs in the country. Mrs. Millar has had a long as- sociation with the Scugog Choral Society and has performed in many of their productions. Being selected to sing with the 160 voice Mendelssohn Choir, based at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto "meant a great deal to me," she told the Star recently. "I knew that I had reached a certain level of achievement." She worked hard to prepare for the September auditions, taking voice lessons. And in fact it was her voice teacher who first sug- gested that she audition. So far, the Choir has per- formed twice, once at Thompson Hall and this past Saturday even- ing at Dunnville High School. And beginning on December 14, the Choir, accompanied by the Toronto Symphony, will give four performances of Handel's Messiah, a tradition at Christmas. Mrs. Millar began singing at age 11 in her native Scotland. "I always dreamed of singing in front of a symphony orchestra and now it has come true," she said. ~The Choir will be rehearsing for the Messiah three nights a week, and in the New Year will present Elijah and St. Matthew's 8 Passion. And next summer, the Choir will perform at an intenational music festival in Toronto. Auditions for the Mendels- sohn Choir are held each year in September and Mrs. Millar said she most certainly plans to audi- tion for a second year. After all, life-long dreams don't come true very often. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 29, 1968 -- 9 ATTENTION BUSINESSES ... Thinking of computerizing your business?
