This exciting game was a seesaw battle right down to the final buzzer. Pineridge dominated the game with the aggressive ef- forts of their forward lines and some strong end to end rushes by the defensive units. Having enough players to field only 2 shifts and the extended final period however, was enough of an advantage to allow Oshawa to squeak out the winning goal in the last 2 minutes of the game. Port Perry got on the board in the opening minutes of the game on a goal by Kevin Gray assisted by Shawn Lewerentz and Darryl Moase. Five minutes later, Oshawa came back with a goal to take a 1-1 tie into the second period. Port had a lot of good oppor- tunities in the 2nd period keeping the pressure on around the Oshawa goal. Pineridge regained the lead on another goal by Kevin Gray, this time assisted by Matt Mantel. Moments later Kevin scored his third of the game to give Port a 3-1 lead going into the final period. Oshawa tied the game on two quick goals early in the third. Port answered with Darryl Moase and Kent Taylor setting up Todd Parry to put Port back into the lead. Another two quick goals by Oshawa put them into the lead for the first time in the game. It was Port's turn to play catch-up and they did with Todd Parry setting up Kent Taylor who fired the puck into the upper corner. The last tal- ly of the game came from Oshawa making it a 6-5 final in the Black Hawks favour. Not figuring in the scoring but giving it their all, was Brad Shanley on the forward line and Jeff Jamieson, Brad Morton, Jason Logan and Jeff Clarke pro- viding solid defensive play. Shar- ing the duties between the pipes, Darryl Holtby and Brandon Ham- mond both looked sharp stopping many of the Oshawa attacks. THE YOUNG GIRLS CLOSET NOW ON SALE 149° travelling to Cobourg for another closely contested game. Brandon Hammond made a number of fine saves to fend off the early pressure put on by the Cobourg team. Halfway through the 1st period, Port turned the tables, hitting the goal post and many other near misses. Finally, after a lot of digging and perserverence around the Cobourg net, the scramble ended with Kevin Gray giving Port the advantage with 4 minutes left in the period. Assists went to Kent Taylor and Todd Parry. On a three on one break, Cobourg managed to tie the score with only 24 seconds left in the 1st. The 2nd period saw both teams put forth good efforts providing lots of exciting hockey. Cobourg however, was the first to capitalize on the many chances giving them a 2-1 lead going into the 3rd. The final period was just as ac- tion packed as the previous two. Again, Cobourg scored late in the period to give them a 3-1 edge. Some great reflexes and quick glove saves by Darryl Holtby kept Port in the game right down to the end. With just under two minutes to play, Jeff Jamieson trapped a clearing pass inside the Cobourg end, passed to Jeff Clarke who in turn set up Darryl Moase for the games final goal.
