You'll count your blessings o'er and o'er...and soon be wearing a smile! 50th Anniversary celebrated Stirling and Helen Moore, for- mer residents of Nestleton now of Bowmanville, had a lovely sur- prise 50th wedding anniversary celebration held on Sunday after- noon in Baseline Community Centre, Bowmanville, hosted by their family. Relatives and friends were present from many points... Stirling's two sisters and a brother-in-law (another surprise) from Prince Edward Island attended the "special" event, along with a sister from Toronto. Their family of five live nearby. Quite a num- ber of Nestleton friends were on hand to extend the best to a great couple! Our "very best" to Stir- ling and Helen Moore for many more happy years! Nestleton United Church On a bright December 4th Sun- day, Arthur and Barbara Weir were the greeters at the door of Nestle- ton United. Heather, Alison and Erin Malcolm provided a short prelude of piano music prior to the service. Heather and Alison also lit the 2nd candle for Peace. Rev. Dale Davis presented a special message, "The Prince of Peace." Norman Seli assisted by reading Scripture passages and leading in Prayer. He taught the children an Ad- vent song during storytime, ac- companying himself on the gui- tar. The ladies choir sang, "Mary's Little Boy Child" and David Weir favoured with a trumpet solo for the Offertory. The Christmas Carols, with Gwen Malcolm at the Organ, set a festive mood! Service closed with "Let There Be Peace On Earth." Recital of Interest Piano and vocal students of Re- cecca Helston of Blackstock, had a Christmas recital for family and friends on Saturday, at the Nestle- ton United Church. Family News Sunday evening visitors with Lawrence and Gwen Malcolm, Nestleton, were Neil and Norcen Malcolm from Blackstock. Wednesday of this past week...Chris and Curt Cawker and friend Jamie Kidd of Oshawa visit- ed with Sam and Mabel Cawker at the farmstead, Scugog Point Road! On Friday, Curt and Jamic came back and assisted better-half Sam with many urgent chores...before the winter sets in! So nice to see the boys and have a visit! It was long overdue! A Terrific Parade! Due to a lengthy news report last week...yours truly had to leave out one item, which I felt should have been included! My warmest congratulations to those in charge of the Santa Claus Parade...it was a very exciting event...and so much work for those involved! We thank Parade Chairman Nellie Stell of the Scu- gog Chamber of Commerce and President Debbie Jones...also...the many others who helped make it the great success it was!
