Building for Tomorrow = [1] COMMUNITY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL BUILDING FUND SUPPORTERS Community Memorial Hospital's "Serving Today - Building for Tomorrow" capital campaign is now underway in the community. The campaign's goal, while stated in dollars, is really to assure op- timum health services to the community. Plans call for the raising of $2 million in gifts and pledges from the community. The success of this campaign depends on the dedicated participa- tion of local businesses and professionals, national corporations, foundations, clubs and organizations, the Hospital Family and the people of the Township of Scugog. To date, the campaign has raised well over $1.1 million through the support of the following: Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Port Perry Robin John, Uxbridge Fred Ashton, Ashburn Al Ashton, Ashburn Dianne Wright, Bethany Dorothy Follows, Port Perry Rita Mitchell, Blackstock Gertrude James, Port Perry Adelaide McLennon, Sunderland M. It's awful- ly hard to get into the spirit, there's no snow on the ground, the golf clubs are still in the trunk of my car (maybe this week I'll put them away). Some of the neighbours have their Christmas lights up and the stores in town all look so nicely decorated. I should get some serious things done like making the pudding, squares, pies, cleaning the house, all those things that makes the season so jolly. This week we have White Gift Sunday service at 11:15 a.m. in Epsom Church. The families that we are responsible for are a single mother and her 1 year old boy and a single mother and a boy & girl who are teenagers. Our church is responsible for the worship service at the Ux- bridge Care Center this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Anyone who can help with the singing would be most welcome. Please take this as an invitation to attend the U.C.W. Christmas meeting and potluck noon lun- cheon which will be held in Utica Hall on Tuesday, December 13th from 12 noon to 3 p.m. We welcome all ladies of the com- munity regardless of your faith. It is to be a community Christmas get-to-gether. This Friday is once again euchre night in Utica Hall star- ~ ting at 8 p.m. All are welcome. Hillis & Carol Wilbur had their family all home on Thursday evening to celebrate Scott's birth- day. Also attending was Mrs. Ruby Beare of Port Perry. The Wilbur's spent the weekend in Kingston and attended the Ban- tam Hockey Tournament in Ernestown. I understand that the team did well but were defeated in the Championship game. Charlie and Susan Brown visited with the family while in the area. If you see Doug MacSween this week wish him a Happy Birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Crawford and boys of Greenbank were Sun- day visitors at the Sutcliffe home. and there's so much to do Our sympathy to a former neighbour on the 6th Concession, Mrs. Edna Diamond in the loss of a grandaughter, Amy, who was laid to rest at the Hillman Cemetery on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon Mrs. Harold Gall of Uxbridge was laid to rest at the Hillman Cemetery and our sympathy is sent to Harold and family in their bereavement. Scugog Island news (From page 22) them and fill in details. Many people attend plays, mu- sicals, sports, displays, business meetings, etc. but these meetings will be helpful to the personal lives of countless people. The service was well attended at the Scugog United Chruch on Sunday. There was one baptism for Tyler David Redman, the in- fant son of John and Marcie Red- man at the "Head" of Island on the main road. Tyler is a fourth gener- ation to become a member of the Island United. There were many friends and relatives present to witness his baptism and welcome him into the church. At this time we would like to report on the medical and physical progress of well-known Island friends. Though Laverne Martyn, (formerly of Concession 6 East where he spent his youth and ear- ly married life with us) and his wife moved to Port Perry, we still think of him as one of us. Since June, Laverne has been in the Port Perry Hospital. But he now has hope for improvement as he is presently in the therapy depart- ment of the Whitby Hospital. Doug Crozier, who has lived at the Foot of the Island all his life, has spent the last three weeks in the Toronto Wellesley Hospital where he is recovering from two surgical operations. But we are pleased to hear he expects to be home soon. On Wednesday evening, the "Grace" UCW will enjoy the an- nual Christ~ as dinner at the Is- lander. On Saturday evening of Decem- ber 10th, the Couples Club will meet at the Scugog United Church at 8 p.m. for dessert and a social evening with plans for fu- ture programs. -- PSYCHOTHERAPY -- -- DIVORCE MEDIATION -- Port Perry Counselling Services MEDICAL ASSOCIATES, 462 PAXTON ST.
