Good luck! Midget Bs battle Millbrook to 7-7 draw Ina very exciting, close game on Monday, November 28 in the Millbrook Arena the Canadian Tire Midgets battled the Millbrook team to a 7-7 tie. As a result of some quick passes and effort playing, Port Perry was able to match Millbrook's team play for play. The Midgets were able to fire away their share of shots to keep the Millbrook goalie on his toes. In the third period Millbrook's goalie foiled many of Port's chances. The first period ended with the score tied 2-2. Port's first goal was scored by Wayne Fraser who fired away a good strong shot to beat Millbrook's goalie quite cleanly. In the second period Millbrook was able to go ahead 6-4. Michael Butt, who was working hard in front of Millbrook's net, was able to pop in Port's third goal with Wayne Fraser and Kevin Bushcer combining to make some good passes to earn themselves assists on Butt's goal. Port's fourth goal came off the stick of Paul Kett who was aided by Ethan Lavereau and Marc Haina. Lavereau and Haina handled the puck well and controlled the play over the blue line to enable Kett to score with only twenty-three seconds remaining in the second period. The third period belonged to Port Perry. The team came out flying and kept the game moving Sports Land 0985-2174 -- your -- Christmas Headquarters at a fast pace throughout the period. Although Millbrook did slip one goal on to the scoreboard at the halfway mark, Port Perry went on to score three unanswered markers of their own. With 9:06 remaining on the clock Port Perry took charge with Ethan Lavereau scoring on a three man rush. Paul Kett and Marc Haina carried the puck in- to Millbrook's end earning themselves assists on Lavereau's goal. Never relinquishing control from this moment on, Port Perry dominated the remainder of the game. Aaron Cochrane netted Port's next goal assisted by Michael Butt and Wayne Fraser. Shortly after this goal Port took an ill timed penalty but continued to press on the Millbrook goalie as the line of Michael Butt, Paul Kett, Ethan Lavereau and Wayne Fraser executed some excellent penalty killing with Port Perry firing away shots continously. The play in the last five minutes kept the fans on the edge of their seats as the Midgets flew all around Millbrook's net. With 1:40 remaining Michael Butt popped in Port's last goal to tie the game. The Canadian Tire Midgets ex- hibited some fine team playing during this game and should be congratulated on their efforts.
