The report of the delegate to the convention is to be given at our next meeting. Arrangements were made for gifts and cards to shut-in members for Christmas. Several Christmas carols were sung, interspersed with a couple of contests, and a gift exchange. Then we had more Christmas carols, with Mrs. Millicent Peacock of the Shirley W.I. leading, then rendering a beautiful solo, which we all en- joyed. The meeting closed with the meaningful "Hymn of All Na- tions," and best Christmas wishes to one and all! Time is running out to enter the Star's Christmas Lights con- test! Deadline for entries is this Friday, December 9 at 5 p.m., so if you've been thinking about entering your home in this compe- tition, you'd better get the lead out, and call the Star at 985-7383. As of Wednesday moming, November 29, only six names have been registered in the contest, so chances of winning are pretty ood! 3 First prize for the best lit house will receive $50 cash. Two honourable mentions will take home $25 each. Judging will take place on the evening of December 14th. Last year 235 entries were received, but we're not even close to the 30- entry limit so far. An evening drive last Tuesday revealed many, many homes dressed up in their Christmas best. Indeed, a quick tour through the Township reveals a multitude of potential prize winners. But you have to register to participate, so don't hesitate. If you live in Scugog Township and your honse is decorated with lights, call the Star and register. Couldn't an extra $50 come in handy at this time of year? Here's the entries we have so far (as of Wednesday morning): Wally Petrie, 9 Circle Dr.; Ray and Jean Crawford, 76 Heath ; Cres.; Valerie Freeman, Concession 8, Scugog Island; Diane Knutson, 156 Alva St.; Douglas and Sandra Day, Park St. Cae- sarea; and Betty Mahaffy, 102 Chester Cres. Make sure you leave your name, phone number and address. If, you live in a rural location, also leave clear directions. Christmas- Lights '88 will be judged by Star reporter Cathy Olliffe, home-- maker Angie Kroonenberg, Century 21 real estate agent Janet Keene, and Star editor John B. McClelland (who will chauffeur and push the van in case it gets stuck, as it did quite neatly last year). On judging night, December 14, please leave your lights on from 6 p.m. until at least 11 p.m. If you feel your home is lit in the Christmas spirit, by all means join in the fun!
