Dini received the Paul Pine Ridge Garden Club's annual meeting x Alice Turcotte (centre) of Blackstock was presented with several awards f the Pine Ridge Garden Club last week as the Club held its annual meeting and pot-puck supper. Making the presentations at left Is Paul Johansen and Grace Bajema. See story for detalls of all the awards earned by Alice Turcotte. On Dec. 6, Pine Ridge Garden Club held a mest enjoyable Christmas Pct Luck Supper and Party with over 80 members & guests in attendance. Entertainment was provided y Steve Hepburn, Magic Balloons, who delighted and in- trigued both the children and adults. Later in the evening the Senior Garden Club was entertained by the 'Golden Slippers.' Don't be confused by their name, a most lively & entertaining group, who had everyone singing toe- tapping. Anne Burke, Director for District 17 resided over the elec- tion of Officers & Directors for 1989. Prizes & Trophies were presented to the following members for their efforts during 1988. Most points winner for both the Decorative & Cultural Divi- sion was Alice Turcotte. Alice was presented with the Lillian Smith Memorial Trophy for the Decorative Division & the Newton Trophy for the Cultural Division, and two lovely framed pictures donated by Port Gifts. Alice also had the highest points for 1988 & received the Analda Trophy and a gift certificate donated by Analda Nurseries. Winners of the best flower & vegetable garden were: Flowers - Alice Turcotte, Anne MacIntyre & Tina Wolters. Alice received the Paul Johansen Vase & a Gift Cer- ~ tificate donated by Dominion Seed House, Anne, a lovely vase containing silk flowers donated by Ives Florist & Tina a Christmas Cactus donated by Personal Choice Vegetables - Dini Oosterholt, Alice Turcotte & Joe Johansen Bowl & a gift certificate "donated by Dominion Seed House. Alice a pen set donated by Em: merson Insurance & Joe a table cloth donated by Joanne Oppers The winners of the Photo Com tition held at the Blackstock fair were Ida Hurtig, Ives Maz zarolo, Grace Bajema, Jim Band- stra & Liisa Ryan who all receiv: ed free film developing donated by Port Photo, Port Perry Plaza. Lisa Parker's lovely cover design was voted on by the members as the one to grace our yearbook in 1989. The Monthly Competition theme was 'Merry Christmas," a table centerpiece & out of 15 heautiful arrangements, Marilyn Bailey placed 1st, Shirley love 2nd, & Alice Dodd 3rd. She was presented with 2 wicker owl or- naments donated hy Anita Maz- zorolo, Shirley with scented candles in a basket donated by Settlement House and Alice a Gift Certificate from David's Hairstyl- ing. The Door prizes, a Black Forest Cake donated by The Meating Place and a 3 piece Carpenters set from Lake Scugog Lumber was won by Debbie Donsma & Harold Luke. Marilyn Bailey won a Christmas Fruit Cake donated by Henka Bandstra for the advance membership draw. It was decid- ed that the Garden Club should have a Logo & the Junior Garden Club were asked to draw one for members to vote on and Kimberley Coates' design was chosen.
