Emmer- son added another marker three minutes later when Adam Dantor finished off a play from Vince Criscione and Cliff LeFort. Frank finished off the scoring in the first when Chris Cooper converted a pass from Gerry Stevens. Frank turned up the power in the second as they out scored Em- merson 2 to 1-to tie the game. Eric Grosvenor got both the Frank markers with assists going to Ross Stainton and Scott Airey. Vince Criscione got the lone marker for Emmerson with Neil Mark picking up the assist. Em- merson came on strong in the third as they were able to out score Frank 3 to 1 to come away with a hard fought victory in a game that could have gone either way. Emmerson markers went to Cliff LeFort, Vince Criscione and Adam Dantor with assists to Vince Criscione (2), Adam Dan- tor (2), Cliff LeFort and Neil Mark. For Frank, Ross Stainton scored from Cole Parry. Vince Criscione turned in a big effort picking up 2 goals and 3 assists for a 5 point game. Frank Real Estate 4 Swamp Auto 2 Chris Cooper opened the scor- ing on a lovely goal as he picked up a pass from Eric Grosvenor and split the defence to score for Frank. Not to be out done Carl Payne showed excellent effort as - he went down the wing and held off the defender to score unassisted for Swamp. Eric Grosvenor scored midway into the second on a slapshot from the blue line. Minutes later Shawn Larocque scored for Swamp on a slapshot from just inside the blue line to tie the score. Up to this point it was a see-saw battle with either team being able to come out the winner but in the third period Swamp ran into pro- blems with penalties. Frank capitalized on the penalties to score two unanswered goals. Eric Grosvenor scored one unassisted and assisted on the second goal by Ross Stainton. Emmerson Insurance 6 Swamp Auto 2 The pace of the play throughout this game was slow. Swamp car- ried the play to Emmerson for half of the first period but were only able to come up with one goal from Graham Carnegie. From the mid point the play evened up with both teams missing on good opportunities from scrambles in front of the net. At the eleven minute mark of the third period Adam Dantor tied the score on a pass from Neil Mark while Swamp were playing short handed. As has happened in previous games Swamp seems to die in the re- maining minutes of the game as Emmerson were able to score four times with only 3:40 remain- ing on the clock. Goals went to Adam Dantor (2), Peter Brock and Doug Adams and assists to Peter Brock and Vince Criscione. Pineridge Atoms in 0-0 deadlock On Wednesday Dec. 14, Whitby and the Pineridge Atoms took to the ice in Port Perry. The 0-0 tie was indicative of the evenly mat- ched play with neither team doing any damage. Congratulations to Darryl Holtby and Brandon Ham- mond who shared the shut-out. The next evening, the Pineridge boys faced off against Omemee. This team appears to be one of the best in the league and plays to win, every game. This was no ex- ception as they took charge as soon as the referee dropped the puck. The score ended up 7-0, but this doesn't necessarily mean that the Port Perry team just let the opposition walk all over them. Both Brandon Hammond and Darryl Holtby made some fine stops as there were far more than 7 shots on net. Numbers 3 and 4 for Omemee tallied most of their goals and they had some pretty slick moves but they were stopped on several occasions by Matt Mantel, Jeff Clarke, Jason Logan and Shawn Lewerentz who played well defensively. We missed Greg Thompson who is out with an in- jury but Ryan Williams used more than a little muscle with good close checking. Kent Taylor, Matt Hobbs and Brad Shanley had some success breaking up Omemee's plays between the 2 blue lines. In an effort to foil Omemee's shut-out and put Port Perry on the scoreboard 5 forwards were utiliz- ed near the end of the game but this strategy didn't pay off. With power skating coming up and a few more games to go before the playoffs the Pineridge boys will be looking forward to an opportunity to give Omemee a - run for its money. Saturday Dec. 17 dawned bright and early and the Pineridge Atoms were on the road to Cobourg to see the sunrise. The first game was played at 9:00 with the Oshawa Black Hawks. Both teams started off slow with good end to end play and solid goaltending by Darryl Holtby to end the period 0-0. Todd Parry was able to notch 2 goals in the second period with assists to Darryl Moase, Kent Taylor, Matt OPEN ALL WINTER Hobbs, and Kevin Gray. Both for- ward lines had good backcheck- ing efforts and particularly good rushes were made by Matt Hobbs, Brad Shanley and Kevin Gray. The third period saw Oshawa come back to make it 2-1. Port Perry was short handed and kill- ed off 2 penalties with Brad Shanley, Jeff Clarke, Matt Mantel and Jeff Jamieson, Ryan Williams, Darryl Moase, & Todd Parry worked hard backchecking and moved the puck out of our end. Kent Taylor scored a power play goal unassisted with just 2 minutes to play to put the game away. Todd Parry was awarded the MVP for hard working 2 way play. At 1:30 Pineridge was ready to go again versus Baltimore. This was a fast skating tight checking game. Darryl Holtby started in goal and made several good stops but 2 were able to get by him giv- ing Baltimore the advantage. Matt Hobbs, Kevin Gray and Ryan Williams all had close calls but just couldn't get it past the goalie. Todd Parry got the Pineridge team back in the game with his goal from a scramble in front of the net. The Baltimore team was held in check by good defensive play by Jeff Clarke, Jeff Jamieson and Shawn Lewerentz, Matt Mantel and Jason Logan. The third period remained scoreless but not without thrills and spills. A power play effort by Darryl Moase, Todd Parry, Kent Taylor, Matt Hobbs and Kevin Gray forced the play for a full 2 minutes with several close calls. At our own end Brandon Ham- mond was busy stopping a few shots from the opposition too. This was a really fast game with good forechecking and backchecking. An excellent effort was made by all with good team work being evident. Baltimore with a 1 goal advantage advanc- ed to the championship game.
