| RY a i A --_ aS Eagles soar The Eagles enter the new year in a winning way by bringing home the hardware from the Ux- bridge tournament. (It's always nice to beat Uxbridge in the final of there own tournament by a decisive score of 7 to 4) "Way to go Eagles". On route to that final game it felt like a warm up for the first round of playoffs. In the first game we disposed of Lin- say 6 to 1 and in the second game, lacking players in the lineup thru injuries and some working, we struggled with Stouffville for two Perioais and then with 5 minutes eft in the third and losing 2 to 1 the Eagles went to work and fill- ed the net with four goals to win 5 to 2. Monday night we hosted "Pickering for our final meeting to victory this season and with a full line up for once, we skated to a 7 to 4 vic- tory. ' With three tough tournaments ahead of 'us, this weekend in Georgetown, next weekend in Ajax and the following in Ganano- que will set the tempo for this years playoffs. With the first round of playoffs to begin in two weeks here is our line up for this season: In Goal - Chris McConnell and Jamie Brown On Defence - Paul Wyle, Derek Fitzgerald, Jason Weinhold and Kris Lavereau Forwards - Scott Porter, Mike Sorley, Jarrett Harman, Jim Ver- non, Todd Taylor, Kevin Gibson, Gerry Douma, Sean Bradbury and Chris Legere. Scorers were Lisa Levy 1, Denna Lover- ing 1, Nicole Beare 1, Sylvia Dur- ward 1. Our third game was also on Thursday against Markham Mother's. This game the girls played well. This game put us in the Championship Semi-Final round on Friday at 2:30. } - On Friday we met up with a team from Rosedale. This team hadn't lost a game yet. This game was nerve racking for both sides. Both teams play great. At the end of the second period the score was tied 5-5. This meant 5 minutes of overtime. At 4:11 mark of over- time Denna scored making it 6-5. Heather stood her ground inbet- ween the pipes for the last few seconds of the period. The girls ere flying high after this game ause they were headed for the Championship at 8:00 p.m. Scorers were Cheryl Armstrong 2, Denna Lovering 4. The Championship game put Sportsland Juniors up against Mt. Hamilton once again. Due to a very one sided game in penalties our girls lost to Mt. Hamilton once again. But one thing I have to say to the girls, you played well, I am proud of all of you. Congratula- tions again!
