On March 26 we travelled to 'Lindsay for our final league game against the Lindsay Juniors. The Port perry team capitalized on this and kept their heads and scored a total of 9 goals in the two periods. ; With winning this game 9-4 the Sportsland Juniors will be . presented the League Champion- he had words of praise for the Hespeler team. And he also said the overall season for his team was gratify- ing. ' : He said the formation of the Juvenile team last fall al- lowed many of his players a chance to continue playing hockey, and they had some fun over the season as well, He indicated that he's will- ing to take on the 'coaching chores for the Port Juveniles again next season. As for Hespeler, a team that has not been defeated all season, the next opponent for the all-Ontario championship will bé Niagara-on-the-Lake. There is an interesting foot-note to this Hespeler Juve- nile team. Most of the players have been with the same coach- ing staff since Novice level as the team and the coach move through the age levels together. Arm wrestlers turn on the heat Mike Haigh (sponsored by Schildt Machining Ltd.) earned the 3rd spot in the Middleweight division losing a tough match to Pat in the semi-finals. Terry Barton also scored a 3rd place in the Lightweight bracket with first place going to Rick Klock of Port Perry and 2nd to Mike Smith of the London Arm- wrestling Club. Tournament organizer Jim Platanitis handled the referees duties with the help of Bob Am- brose of Oshawa. The referees _ had the tough task of choosing the Most Sportsmanlike competitor of the day. They dedided it should go to Garth Carlson of the Port Perry team because in a match with Ron Landry, Garth pinned Ron right off the start which Ron pro- tested, he wasn't ready. It was Garth's option to take the victory or opt for a restart, which he did and unfortunately lost. This is Garth's third Sportmanship award in his two-year career.
