PORT PERRY STAR --- Tuesday, April 4, 1989 -- 9 Council calls for ice time fee hike The Blackstock Recreation Complex committee will be asked toincrease the hourly ice time time rates for the arena to come more in line with Scugog Arenain Port Perry. This decision came about during a discussion of the com- mittee report submitted to council in which the rental price was set at $56 per hour as the top rate. During discussion, it was noted that the arena in Port Perry charged $77 per hour as their top rate with a subsidized rate of $65 for some local groups. While some councillors were unaware of the different rate structures at the two Township arenas, all agreed with Mayor Howard Hall when he said "It's time the rates were changed". After a brief discussion about making both arena rates the same, it was decided because of the smaller ice size in Black- stock that was probably not ad- visable. On a motion by Yvonne Christie, it was moved to rec- ommend the committee in- crease their rates to $50 for mi- nor sports and $65 for all other user groups effective Septem- ber 1989.
