Although the lack of snow curtailed the snowmobile sea- son in Scugog thiswinter, there were several complaints lodged with councillors about the use of the machines on streets, side- walks, and other public proper- ty within Port Perry and Prince Albert, Mayor Howard Hall said he hopes that the council will hear by May 1 from persons who may not be in favour of the proposed by-law, or those who feel it is not tough enough. If the new law is passed in its present form, snowmobiles would be banned from all streets in Prince Albert, and from all areas of Port Perry ex- cept the east side of Water Street, the east side of the for- mer Failway vighs of way, and the trail above Kellett Street that is part of the snowmobile trail system. And it would be an offense to operate a snowmobile any- where in the Township between midnight and 6:00 AM. Fines under the proposed by-law could be a maximum of $300. People like Barbara Taylor- Bone, representing the Scugog Choral Soclety, who came to pay thelr respects to one of the foremost musical Influences on Port Perry, Mrs. Grace Hastings. "Amazing Grace" has taught music, she has directed church choirs and she help found the Scugog Choral Society. After growing up with mu- sic in her blood, Mrs. Hastings has decided to retire from teaching. Her former students will all miss her.
