People in Scugog will soon be able to tune into 88.9 and drive around listening to house information via the Voxx. The Compu-voxx is a new electronic transmitter which al- lows you to pre-record a 70 sec- ond message and then broad- castitsoitcanbe heard ona car radio. These messages can be re- ceived up to 150 feet from the home, allowing people to drive by and still find out how many bedrooms, bathrooms etc. there are and what the list priceis. Wendy Allen, from the Century 21 office in Port Perry is sharing one of these units. She has been very happy PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 18, 1989 -- 29 with its performance over the month she has had it. "It is really effective for the many country listings," she said. "Many people drive around and just look at homes. Being able to describe the features inside the house and supply the list price, the customer can then call the agent if it meets their criteria." Mrs Allen thought that people were catching onto the new technol very quickly, and that before long, there would be "talking signs" across the Township. Currently, the agents are using the talking signs to pro- vide extra exposure for homes which need to be sold quickly. It is an extra feature Century 21 in Port Perry and Uxbridge can provide that the competi- tion doesn't have yet. New Opportunities Corpo- ration is the Canadian compa- Talking signs coming to Scugog Township ny which developed and mar- kets the Voxx. Jim Wilson, Vice President of Marketing is very excited about the popularity of the de- vice and he envisions many new commercial uses. He explained that McDo- nalds plans to use the Voxx to broadcast publicinformation at their restaurants (McNews), as well as advertising specials. Wilson thi that the Voxx will shortly be used at oth- er businesses, grocery stores, car lots - where ever long-term, continuous information could be useful. The units are the size of a briefcase, light and easy to use, just plug them in and put up the antenna. With no moving parts to breakdown, they carry athree year guarantee. For anyone considering getting a Voxx for their busi- ness, note that the units sell for a hefty $1100 Port Perry Firefighters Paul Dick and John Foster were pleased last week to turn over a cheque for $550 to Hospital Administrator David Brown. The money, the proceeds from a recent car wash will go towards the Hospital Buliding fund.
