48 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 18, 1989 "There is an old expres- sion that the eye is the mirror of thesoul. Annette Pedersen be- lieves that eyes can even show someones physical and emo- tional state of health. Annette is an Iridologist, a natural health practitioner who is trained in examining the iris of the eye (the col- oured portion) to determine whether specific parts of the body are healthy or weak. It is apc that there are energy connections from the eye to every organ in the body. By mapping these con- nections, iridologists have been able to develop atech- nique of determining when parts of the body suffer some Sysitmelin or are healthy. Over the past five years, Annette has both trained un- der the pioneer of this field, Dr. Bernard Jensen and helped to train others in the practice. Annette works out of the Uxbridge Natural Health Cen- tre and comes to Ingredients Unlimited, Port Perry, on Tuesdays to see people in Scugog. The actual irls examina- fio) is ery straightforward . Annette begins by it a light into your right eye and Lid it with fying hoop. .As she en around the eye, she makes notes on a chart which outlines the areas connected to various organs. She then moves onto the left eye and proceeds to map out an problem areas there. er ten to fifteen min- utes of close scrutiny and some questions as to your history of health, she canrec- ommend which areas of your body need strengthening or cleansing. To raise energy levels, Mrs. Pedersen has had great success with the use of specif- ic herbs and spices. She may recommend certain combina- tions to cleanse often polluted areas like the gall bladder, or dietary measures to help to strengthen specific organs or Annette Pedersen Is an Iridologist, someone who Is trained to examine the eye to see how are, If there Is weakness or a need for rong your organs ansing. Annette has five years experience with herbal supplements, and can recommend a helpful combination. She is in Port Perry on Tuesdays, or by appointment, at ingredients Unlimited. thebody overall. To heal. the whole body, not just cure the physical symptoms and hope the rest goes away, is the ultimate / goal of natural health. Mrs. Pedersen explained that she tries to help people understand the energy flows of the body, and how emotion- al problems may be having physical impacts. She can recommend dietary supple- ments which may lessen the physical difficulties, but for the emotional problems she passes the person along to a specialist in that area of heal- ing. Annette fell into natural health when she was relieved of an aliment which conven- tional medicine did not seem able to help her with. Since that day she has been study- ing herbal supplements and even teaching others at the Canadian College of Natural Healing, a government ap- proved institute. "If you are not kg well, what 1s the your life." She said rg w this is the first thing I truly enjoy doing, I am helping people to become helthier."
