Caesarea which are planned for this summer. Residents of View Lake have been waiting four years for the repairs, said Mrs. Walton, adding she was told by the Re- gional Works department last week it would not be a major problem to fix the View Lake section this year, rather than the Caesarea section. While councillors agreed that both sections of Durham Road 57 are badly in need of re- pairs, they decided not to make any request to change the 'schedule this summer. They feared that if the re- Durham Region have laid numerous gambling related charges against three Oshawa residents following a raid last week on an Oshawa tavern-restuarant. Executing a search war- rant on April 20, Morality squad officers raided the Colon- ianl Restaurant on Bond Street West. : Facing the charges are Martial Leblanc of William St., Police . pairs "in Caesarea (including sidewalks) were not carried out this summer, it could be an- other two years before the work gets done. And they noted that the Re- gion's forecast for work further east on Durham 657 calls for $290,000 in 1990 and a similar amount in 1991 to be spent on repairing the road. The = Region has ear- marked $550,000 for repairs in the Caesarea area this summer. "If we (Scugog council) ask the Region to start changing things now, we could lose every- thing this year," said area coun- cillor Don Cochrane. Regional councillor Yvonne Christie said from a public safe- ty point of view, the Caesarea work is important this year, be- cause itincludes sidewalks. Gambling charges laid Micheline Thiebault of Rowe St., and Lisa Dawn Bullard of Bruce St. They have been charged with keeping a common gaming and betting house, keeping ma- chines for gambling, and pos- session of money related to gambling machines. Seven other persons were charged as found-ins following the raid which took place at 12:30 PM. Police lay charges in $320,000 arson case Durham Police have charged several persons with arson in connection with a fire early in January that caused $320,000 damage to Wally's Restaurant, the Place With No Name, in Pickering.
