The Secretary then read the minutes of the last meeting with one correction. Luella then reported 1 Thank you note and 1 Get Well card had been sent out. Isabel reported there is a new line of Maggie B. cosmetic bag goods, and invited anyone to come to the tuck shop and view these items. Joan Godley volunteer co- ordinater reported that the tea given for volunteers went over well. Mr. Brown was with us, and reported that the official fund raising will be completed by the end of this month, but there would still be small fund raising events. Camille gave the report of in- come from the gift shop, Bonnie Members of Township council were less than enthu- siastic about a proposal to de- velop up to five more lots in a subdivision in Blackstock. Neil McLaughlin, who dev- loped 22 lots on the west side of Scugog St. in the community, asked for permission to put houses on the remaining eight acres of land, roughly behind Cartwright High School. Mr. McLaughlin said he would prefer to develop the lots through the Land Division pro- cess, rather than subdivision plan. Gerrow PéRorted 11 babies born in hospital since our last meeting. Moved by Mary and seconded by Marg McConnell that the by-laws, read by Elaine, be accepted. Under new business the Spring Fair was discussed. Pat needs help in setting up tables, etc., Isabel will help her regards to this. Members should be at the Latcham Centre at 9 a.m. Sat April 29 for the Spring Fair pro- ject to help set up. Elaine read a letter from Mr. Brown re - annual meeting to be held June 21st at 8 .m. 'Hope to see you all at our Spring Fair and luncheon held at the Lat- cham Centre Sat. April 29th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. We will be very pleased for any baking or other articles anyone can bring in for this project. Ruby then moved we adjourn, seconded by Mary. Cool to lot proposal He noted that soil and wa- ter tests have already been com- pleted, and the remaining land is zoned for residential lots. Although the council did not turn the request down Mon- day afternoon, several expres- see concerns about the drainage in the area, and the impact moré homes might have down- stream drainage. Ward 4 councillor Glen Malcolm said he has heard com- plaints from residents east of the main road about the amount of run-off from the lots developed last year. Council support for VIA Scugog council has thrown its support behind the VIA Rail passenger service that operates daily between Havelock and To- ronto. Council on Monday after- noon endorsed a resolution sup- porting the service "until there is some alternative form of transport to Toronto." The VIA train which stops in Myrtle and is widely used by Scugog residents who commute to their jobs in Toronto, may be the subject of federal cut-backs. Scugog Mayor Howard Hall will be meeting with VIA _officials and regular riders on the Havelock route at a meeting to-night (April 25) in Port / #| We take trade ins. Perry. People who use the Have- lock-Toronto train on a regular basis are now in the process of mounting a lobby effort to pre- vent any cut-backs in the level of service on this route.
