With the assistance of the Stu- dent Council President, Rob Keast and Vice-President, Matt Massie, Blaine Sleep did a thorough job creating, organizing and raising money for our Student Council. Sixty-five students came arm- ed with pledges and running shoes, to dance away the next ten hours. Ten minute breaks were given every hour. A mixture of dancing techniques were used, to suit the variety of songs played. The pace was kept up by all, in- cluding -gasp- teachers. Our able disc jockeys were Scott Fletcher and Shawn Hoskin. They kept the crowd going with their enthusiastic performance. There was a varied selection of music, and requests were fulfill- ed quickly. They handed out prizes for draws and spot dances. Prizes were donated by Blackstock Country Convenience Store, Blackstock Country Hard- ware, Super Spud Chip Truck in Marathon dance Blackstock, Circular Sounds in Port Perry, B.F.I. in Peter- borough, and apples from 1.G.A., Port Perry and Algoma Orchards in Whitby. At three-thirty, the dance was opened to the public. The Student Council was kept busy with ticket and refreshment sales. The "marathoners' were still going at the end of the evening, when it was announced that over fourteen hundred dollars was raised. The top four fund raisers, Aaron Hill, Danielle Millson, Brent McMillen and the school, secretary Mrs. Bauer were awarded a pizza par- ty for their excellent effort. Thanks go out to all participants, who made the event a success. Please add these dates to your calendar.
