The last time Mrs. Pat Lov- ering of Port Pe Doris Sloan of Sunderland, England, saw each other, World War 2 was winding down and they were classmates at high school in Toronto. But they kept in touch by mail over the past 44 years and finally got together again when Doris made a trip to Canada to visit relatives in Toronto. And as might be expected when two old friends see other after so many years, they have enjoyed the reunion. Doris and Pat lived in the same Toronto neighbourhood, became good friends and in 1945 were classmates at North- ern Vocational School. Butin the spring of 46, with the war nearly over, it was safe for Doris and her brothers and sister to return to their parents in England. "We cried when we learned that Doris would be returnin to England," said Pat. d Neither thought it would be 44 years before they saw each other again. Doris spent two days last week visiting with her old friend, meeting children and grandchildren. And being an avid garden- er, she greatly enjoyed an excur- sion to Cullen Gardens in Whit- by. Doris will be returning home to England early in June.
