The Gamblers failed toscore in this game and wasted a solid pit- ching effort from Wayne Wells who held the National team to an earned run in the second inning and they scored a pair of unearn- ed runs late in the game to hang a 3-0 defeat on the Gamblers. On Thursday night in Port Perry it was the same story as the Greenbank Batters could not push a run across the plate and left eight baserunners stranded dur- ing the game. Mark Goreski pitched a nifty two hitter for Greebank but unfor- tuneately for the Gamblers one of the hits was a long home run for Rick Bricknell which was the on- ly scoring in the 1-0 Port Perry victory. It looked like Greenbank had tied the score in the fifth inning but John Foster was called out on a close play at home plate. Mark Goreski allowed two hits and struck out eight X L batters, while winning pitcher Ken Irvine allowed five base hits and struck out three Gambler batters. Injuries have played a part in the early going for Greenbank as pitcher Russ Korbak is sidelined with a muscle pull and catcher Dennis Ewart hurt his arm in Thursday nights game. Hopeful- ly both players will soon be back in action.
