Patron Alastair Newsome conducted the opening ceremonies. It was a pleasure for Sister Marilyn and Brother Alastair to welcome Hazel Hooper, Grand Rep. of Mississippi to Ontario, Past D.D.G.M.'s Bessie Cosway and .Erline Finnie, as well: as many visitors from Bowmanville, Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, Markham, Sunderland, Peter- borough and Creemore. Donations were given to Cancer Society (Scugog Unit), Communi- ty Care, Arthritic Society, Multi- ple Sclerosis & Heart & Stroke Foundation, The W.M.'s project this year is for Port Perry Hospital, Meeting closed and all were in- vited to the lower hall...where members & guests, were well entertained by Ken Castle, Oshawa's King of Western & Coujitry music! A delicious salad plate was served...complimented by birthday cake...made and decorated by the refreshment committee...Brenda. Newsome, Joyce Taylor and Elsie Wilbur. Tables' were decorated with flowers & balloons, and a favour for each guest...thanks to Marilyn & Heather Jones...thus bringing to a close another delightful even- ing of fellowship for Blue Ray Chapter. The Yard & Bake Sale, held on Saturday last, was a tremendous success, with another nice amount for the treasury. Julie Pickering made the lovely lunch. The Ladies Auxiliary is having a "Cake Decorating Demonstra- tion at the Hall on Wed., May 31, 1-3 p.m. All ladies are invited to attend! Nestleton United Church An average congregation at Nestleton United, with Harold and Marie Crawford the friendly greeters at the door. A number of visitors were welcomed. The choir sang "His Name Is Wonder- ful" with organist Gwen Malcolm at the instrument! Rev. Dale Davis spoke on, "The Holy Spirit" based on Script. Proverbs 8: 22-31 & John 16: 12-15, read by Matthew Hill. A fine message! The offering was received by Ralph Sadler and Robert Mairs. Service closed with the Three Fold Amen! Nestleton Presbyterian Church The service at 11 a.m. was con- ducted by David Faulkner with Shirley Scott as organist. The responsive reading from selection 636...was Psalm 46. Scripture reading was from Luke 9: 46-62. "Going Against The Grain' was the sermon title, based on the reading from Luke 9. We should live by faith - not by sight - and go Christ's way - not the path sin takes us. The floral arrangements were in memory of the late Harold Honey and gratefully acknowledged. Honeydale Luncheon & Bazaar A Success The Honeydale Women's In- stitute held a most enjoyable Lun- cheon & Bazaar this past week, with a goodly amount for the treasury. The event was held in the Municipal Hall, Port Perry, on Wed. May 17, 11-2 p.m. Mabel Cawker, past president, was privileged to open this delightful affair. Our congratulations to presi- dent Mary Cannon, and convenor - Clara Warren, All members helped to make to the success it .was, and our thanks! Those who went home with coveted prizes were: Large fruit basket - Alice Woodcock. Norman Rockwell plates - set of four - was Elsie Pogue and the lovely cake was won by Ruby Bryant.
