The injury jinx is still hounding the Greenbank team and the Gambler bench has been as bare as Mother Hubbards cupboard. On Monday night in Greenbank Park the Port Perry Eagles and the Gamblers battled to an extra inning 4-4 tie. Lawrie Williams was the big man for Port Perry as he had three hits and batted in three runs as well as relieving starter Al Heintzman on the Port Perry mound. Mark Goreski went the distance for Greenbank and pitched well and he also banged out a pair of long triples for Greenbank but both times he was stranded at third base. Dave Dickson had three Port Perry hits while Don Beaton hit safely twice for the Gamblers. Rod Real had a two run homer for Greenbank in the first inning but Port Perry rallied for a big sixth inning to send the game into overtime. } On Friday night Greenbank travelled to Richmond Hill to meet York Sundance and came home on the short end of an 8-2 score. Russ Korbak who has been sidelined with pulled rib muscles 'made his first start of the season and after the first two innings he pitched a very steady game. The big blow for York was a 3 run homer by Brian Benning in the se- cond inning which set the Gamblers back on their heels trailing 5-0. Korbak gave up 10 hits in the game while Greenbank had eight hits off Russ Miaskoski and Russ Gregory. The Gamblers stranded eleven baserunners during the game which pretty well told the story. Rod Real, Steve Foster and Terry Till each had two hits with singles going to Brian Till and Don Beaton. On Sunday afternoon (one of three Sunday dates the Gamblers will play this year) the Oshawa Juniors came to town to battle the Greenbank team. With only one days rest, Russ Korbak took the mound again and turned in a superior effort to shut out the Oshawa squad by a 3-0 score. : He scattered six hits over the seven innings and struck out 10 Oshawa batsmen to earn his first win of the season. Brain Till led the Greenbank at- tack with a pair of hits including a long home run to break the scoreless tie. Don Phinney, Trevor Till, Don Beaton and Hugh Johnson collected the other Gambler hits. - Al Stanley had two hits to lead the Oshawa attack. After seven League games Greenbank has won 4, lost 2 and tied 1 to stay in the thick of the race for the League Championship. Greenbank has only one game this week when Mark Goreski will face the Ontario Inter. "B" Champions, Bardford, at Green- bank Park on Monday night. The weeks rest should give some of the Gamblers time to heal their wounds and get ready for the heavy schedule coming in June, July and August. Don't forget to get your season- - ticket from one of the Gambler players, only $10 for a full season of fastball entertainment.
