III TET" "TTY JY REST AVAILABLE COPY if PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 6, 1969 -- 33 | Pee Wee Boys Ten runs in first inning At the Legion Diamond, Seagrave got ten runs in the first two innings and won the game by the score of 12 - 0 over Pineridge Sports. Jason Philips and Brandon Puckrin shared the pitching duties for Seagrave to shut out their opponents. Lloyd Short caught a fly ball in centre field and threw out a runner at second base to make a double play. Danny Wood came in after the second inning and pitched three good innings for Pineridge Sports. At the South Diamond, X L Eagles ran over Cowboy Bobs and beat them by the score of 14 - 4. For X L Eagles, Jay Mackie hit a triple scoring two runs while Dave Bourgeois stole home on a pass ball. Mike Smith made a great catch in left field for Cowboy Bobs while relief pitchers Brad Richardson and Kevin Pearce tried to hold back the hard hitters for X L Eagles. In Seagrave, Standard Electric solidly beat Kentucky Fried Chicken by the score of 13 - 5. Chris Jelicoe pitched very well for Standard Electric and had a cou- ple of good hits while David Bengel had a good hit as well. Gary Norton pitched will for Kentucky Fried Chicken and made a good running catch in cen- tre field. On Thursday June 1, 1989, Pineridge Sports travelled to Seagrave with seven players and the home team beat them by the score of 11 - 8. For Pineridge Sports, Stephen McFarlane played well at short stop and covered up at third to tag out several runners. Chad Garvock played well behind the plate, making the throws to third to help Stephen tag the runners. The batters were hot in the first 3 innings when 18 runs were scored. The defensive prowess of the teams took over in the last 3 innings when only 6 runs were scored. ' Jason Coish pitched excellent- ly for B & R Electric, allowing on- ly 1 run in the 2 innings he pitch- ed. Helping him out defensively with some great plays were Jonathan Froats at first base and Scott Harper at shortstop. Shona Moase led the way offensively by hitting 2 for 2 and taking a walk. For Greenbank Four-Kee, D. Petronijevic led the way offen- sively by hitting 4 for 4. K. Ed- wards and R. Tyce also helped out by hitting 3 for 3 each. Irwin Smith mites began the May 30 game with a 5-1 lead over Brutons I.D.A.. Strong effort from Brutons pitcher Ian Parliament and help at bat frm Diane Vanderlight and Adam Tiessen narrowed the margin throughout the game. With Christina Palack pitching and batting effort by Cory Raines and Jason Rown for Irwin Smith the game ended in an 8-8 tie. Port Perry X L Eagles con- tinued to play tight low scoring games as they tied Greenbank 4-4 and lost to the Oshawa Juniors 1-0. Falling behind 3-0 in Green- bank, the Eagles rallied to go ahead 4-3 before Don Beaton's 6th* inning triple followed by Mark Goreski's run scoring triple tied the game 44. Lawrie Williams hit a solo homerun in the 4th inning; while Dave Dickson, Doug Christie, Jeff Bricknell and Williams hit in the 6th inning to produce three runs. Al Heintzman pitched into the 6th before giving way for Williams. At home against the Juniors, the X L squad could only muster two singles in the 1st inning as Al Holden shut Port down quite con- vincingly. The Juniors got their run on two errors and one base hit. Ken Irvine pitched extreme- ly well in the loss giving up only 3 hits. In his last 3 starts, Irvine hasn't given up any earned runs, but has only one win to show for it. This weeks games has the Eagles at home Tuesday against the Oshawa Merchants and home again on Thursday against the top Richmond Hill Club, York Sun- dance.
