Sparks (our newest and youngest girl guides) Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers attended this fun- filled Birthday Party to com- memorate Lady Baden-Powell's 100th birthday, from Beaverton, Cannington, Sunderland and Greenbank with over 150 leaders and guiders. The day proved to be a huge success. Thanks to the organization and hard work by those who took part. Congratulations ladies on a job well done. Next Sunday June 11, the 5th Sunday of Pentecost and 64th an- niversary of Church Union, the Island United Church will realize a Sunday School Celebration of the year's work. During the period for story, the children will receive their awards for atten- dance and studies accomplished. Then they will attend classes as usual. Following the regular service children, parents and adults will remain for the annual picnic. Games and contests will first be enjoyed followed by a pot luck pic- nic lunch. It is hoped that families will bring lawn chairs. The Youth Group of Island United did a fine job of a general clean up and on Sunday were pleased to accept gifts of plants for landscaping.
