Students from Prince Albert Civic Fields track meet Prince Albert and Area News by Peggy Bredin On June 1st several students from Prince Albert School and other central Durham schools went to the Civic Fields in Oshawa for a track and field meet. The students did well. Thanks goes out to Mrs. Morton and Mr. Murray for coaching. Prince Albert wishes all the best to Sarah Grass of Columbus who is recovering from an appen- dix operation. Although Sarah was having pains she competed in some events at the Civic Fields. Happy late birthday wishes go out to Karen Versluys who celebrated a birthday on June 4th and also Happy Birthday to Genevieve Gookol who had a bir- thday on June 3rd. Friday night Pearl Gostick celebrated a birthday by going out to dinner with her son Gordon, daughter-in-law Agness, and their 4 daughters, Patricia, Sheila, Tracy Gostick and Brenda Brand. Her daughter Ilene Pugh was there also. Mrs. Gostick received a telegram from a fifth grand- daugher Judith, from Halifax. There was a busy yard sale at Prince Albert General Store in the parking lot. Many interesting things were bought or sold. What a beautiful day they had. Twenty-five people gathered at the church to say good-bye to Earlene Armstrong. She received many lovely things for her new home. The U.C.W. presented her with a church plate. We'll miss her. Good luck to her in her new home. Prince Albert School Advisory Committee went out to dinner at Thunderbird Golf and Country Club. It was their way of saying good-bye to those parents on the committee who are moving on to new schools. Our sympathy goes out to John, Edna, Samantha, and Amanda Langford because of the passing away suddenly of John's mother. I always enjoyed listening to her English accent. We will miss her. Ken and Maureen Dowson toured Black Creek Pioneer Village and had a late dinner with Joan and Kevin Pilkington. R.H. Cornish celebrated Cougar Day last Friday. Ba'loons were sent off, poems read and the whole school gathered for a photograph. Its hard to imagine over a thousand teachers and students in one picture. It was Cornish's way of saying good-bye to the students who are going to the new school. For Thursday night Euchre, here are the winners. Ladies - Liva Yake, Erma Watson, Merle St. John.
