There were nine Packs rep- resenting the following commu- nities: Port Perry, Cartwright, Manchester, Prince Albert, Scu- gog Island, Sunderland, Can- nington, Seagrave and Ux- bridge. Three of the packs camped out Saturday evening. Described as a "fun day," the youngsters took part in sey- eral activities, sports and games. They saw a demonstration of the Jaws of Life equipment, courtesy of the Port Perry Fire Department, and heard all about trapping from local trap- per Al Wakeford who had sever- al traps and animal pelts for display. Blackstock man participates in Guelph leadership training Thirty somewhat tired but en- thusiastic men and women left Guelph in mid-April after com- pleting the first seminar of the Advanced Agricultural Leader- ship Program (AALP), among them was Craig Larmer, R.R. 1 Blackstock. This seminar was the first in a series which will cover a total of 55 days over the next two years and which is designed to develop the leadership skills and abilities of young men and women involv- ed in agricultural business and organizations. The Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program was in- itiated by the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, the Foundation for Rural Living, the University of Guelph and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food with flun- ding from the public and private sectors. This leadership program exists as a response to a need for future leaders in Ontario's agricultural community.
